Bomb kills 3 soldiers in Pakistan's Waziristan

A remote-controlled bomb attack on Sunday killed three soldiers in Pakistan's troubled Waziristan district, where Islamabad has resisted US pressure to launch a full-scale offensive against an insurgency.

Pakistan security officials said the bomb targeted a military convoy which was
moving from Mirali town to Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan tribal district, which has become the most notorious Taliban and Al-Qaeda stronghold on Pakistan's border with Afghanistan.

"Three soldiers were killed and three were wounded in the blast. Their vehicle was completely destroyed," a senior security official based in the region's main Peshawar city told AFP.

Another senior security official confirmed the incident and death toll, adding that a second military vehicle was also badly damaged.

Islamabad has told Washington that US forces must seal the Afghan border in the event of any offensive against the Al-Qaeda-linked Haqqani network in North Waziristan, an official said Saturday.

The Haqqanis, blamed for some of the deadliest attacks in Afghanistan and whose leaders are understood to be based in the Pakistani tribal district, is one of the thorniest issues between Islamabad and Washington.

On serious note. Dont people in USA and other countries think that Pakistan is a country where everybody have a gun and beard and every guy in Pakistan is terrorist.... Such misinformation exist ... Unfortunately, this is not the first time our forces have been targeted by the terrorists. The terrorists see this as a way to spread fear and chaos throughout the region. And to make matters worse, these terrorists regularly claim responsibility for their crimes. We must not let these terrorists off the hook by shifting our attention towards conspiracy theories. We must hold these obvious miscreants responsible, and bring justice to the thousands who have been killed in their acts of terror. Our failure to see the truth only offers these terrorists the leeway to further their evil agenda. We hope to see our governments take strong action against these terrorists and free the region from terrorism. We hope the recent revival of our partnership will prove beneficial against these terrorists.

I have to wonder when the hell this operation will start. This isn't the first time militants in Waziristan have done this. Why not attack South Waziristan and get done with the lot of them.
