BNP calls in all candidates with sheaf of paddy to Dhaka

We went through this phase long ago....
Protesting on the street is not an option any more. You even need to take permission from police to do that. ;)

People do need to protest if their rights are threatened. So there shouldn’t be any problem of getting the permission if Law and order maintained properly. Even in Pakistan as well where you have to get the permission from the civil administrations but you get this on the basis that it will be peaceful and every political party normally get this.

.
As long as Khaleda and Tareque are in charge of BNP the party has no future.
Yes, the old days khaleda zia was a great lady for whom ( alongside Hasina ) people came to street and cause the fall of Ershad. That time police were not firishta. Still people came to street and died. Result is the fall of Ershad .

But now for the same khaleda zia peoples are not ready to move a muscle! But why?
Simply after sitting on power and getting bigger, khaleda zia completely changed and proved harmful for Bangladesh, and that's the reason peoples are not interested to fight for her in street.
BNP fellows should understand that truth!

This is where your constitution doesn't protect judiciary from government's illegal steps against it.. sad situation really..
BNP had super majority after 2001 election. They could easily made an amendment of Constitution.
It would be a good work.
But neither nor AL did such amendments. Now it back fired to BNP . If BNP ( who got the first super majority after the restoration of parliamentary system in 1990 ) would have made that amendment, AL dare not to change it. But no party showed honesty . And that's why people have few sympathy for such opportunist parties.

.
Caramel Popcorn please

Hear hear.

BNP need at least 70% support base to defeat a sitting government considering the incumbent will use 100% of the state machinery in its favor. BNP is too weak now to face this.

That is ridiculous. Anything more than 50% needed to defeat a sitting govt means the system is severely broken....and the country with such system is headed for real problems....I mean why even have the election in first place and shut the country down for 3 days and put that cost on it...just to dot the i's and cross the t's like this. Why keep pretending you are something you clearly are not?

Bogus elections

No doubt bro. No one wins the level of districts with 90 - 10 win margins like has been done. Even in election sweeps you will at least have a massive number of 55 - 45's etc.

If the election was really rigged, would it not have been better for AL to give pretence of it being a real fight than what has happened?
Or are they past the point of caring?

I think the latter, and they have a long term plan in place to fully rid Bangladesh of BNP (given oath or no oath on the seats they did end up winning, they can be sidelined and squished with impunity now in national politics)

Basically they have seized upon BNP really stupid mistake to boycott the last one (and basically waste a whole bunch of time)....when BNP could have contested...earned a result (with much more inertia) back then....instead of crawling back and reversing their position to play the game...AFTER the opponent has now bought the stadium and everything around it pretty much.

BNP will have to exile themselves (politically), meditate and return as something else completely....and do things ground up the hard way....rather than play the game BAL wants them to play.

Well the BNP had lost it when they got into power back in 2001. They were so bad they managed to get through 5 years without adding a single MW of power generation and also wanted to get rid of the most modern fighters and ships in the BD arsenal as AL had brought them!
Frankly when you have a total imbecile like Khaleda Zia leading the BNP then this what is bound to happen. I guess when BNP was last in power between 1991-1996, she did not have as much influence as she did in 2001-2006.

I do not think that the BNP will go into oblivion but be reformed and eventually not be led by either Khaleda Zia or her idiot son. There is a large segment of BD population that would like an alternative to AL and a reformed BNP can provide just that.

.
Then refrain from taking oath (if that is irreverent) and start street movement again ( reverent work) and be annihilated permanently from Bangladesh politics, fulfil the dream of Awami league .Choice is yours ( BNP), no one is stopping you .
@Md Akmal
In my opinion, BNP should not take oath. It will give legitimacy to this vote robbery. Mirza Fakhrul said there is no question of taking oath, they rejected this farcical election as a whole.

But BNP should also not try to street agitation in this stage. Doing so, they will erode their already limited energy unnecessarily by the state repression. For the next 2-3 years, they need to organize and strengthen their party at grassroot level. Now BNP is very weak. They lack dedicated party activists, lack direction, planning. They need at first to address these shortcomings. Meantime they need to do a legal battle questioning the legitimacy of this 'election' and start a vigorous media campaign aimed at common public. After 2-3 years, after attaining a level of strength and capability, they should start popular agitation for neutral caretaker govt.

No one really cares.
People are too busy trying to survive.
As long as AL keeps the economy on track, they are safe.

This is the real tragedy. But what if BNP does not take oath ? Do you think that AL will let them stay in peace?
Mirza Fakhrul said there is no question of taking oath, they rejected this farcical election as a whole.
This man actually want to take oath IMHO. But he is already screwed up because of the mass rigged election.
If he openly say that he want to take oath, he will now be expelled I think .
He is a good leader, but do dedicated leader have any value in Bangladesh? Peoples only know khaleda zia and tareq .

Completely agree. And also BNP grassroot were actually destroyed in their last regime . Chatrodol was replaced by Shibir and that's true you know. Last time have you seen any chatrodol cadre creating anarchy? All were Shibir.
And also as long as they do not divorce Jamat, AL is not going to give them any ground, and as long as tareq and his mother is leader, they will not let Jamat go.
They need at first to address these shortcomings. Meantime they need to do a legal battle questioning the legitimacy of this 'election' and start a vigorous media campaign aimed at common public. In theory your words are very true. But brother, reality is different. It's not easy for them to do so . What we see in bare eyes, the reality is sometimes completely different.
But still let's have hope, but still as I said ,AL will let them do anything as long as they do not take oath
And also even after taking oath, they will not allowed to do anything if they will not leave Jamat.
And AL is not the only reason , but some other causes too but that's the different case.
But both you and I do not want to see militancy again right? So they have to leave the militants once and for all. Otherwise even our intelligence will not move a muscle I think, as their life is to protect motherland, not to put it in danger .
After 2-3 years, after attaining a level of strength and capability, they should start popular agitation for neutral caretaker govt.
Yes this part maybe right. But we can comment on this only when sin and posibility of tareq bank money will be gone. As I don't think that 2001 and 2008 election were fair too under caretaker govt . Please try to understand that not only caretaker govt is the solution, but we need to change the total system.
Caretaker govt head will be a retired chief justice.
But when court is not completely free, so is it wise to think that a caretaker govt will automatically solve all problem?
So let's wait and see it this autocratic regime can do something good or not.
I am also the supporter of democracy you know, and without khaleda and tareq zia I prefer BNP and other middle aka soft right minded political party than semi leftist AL you know that.

Still I think that time, that we have more important things to think and do now other than restoration of pure form of democracy.
Do you remember the slogan of safe Street movement?
Let me write again, " হয়নি বলে আর হবে না আমরা বলি বাদ দে , লক্ষ তরুন চেচিয়ে বলে, পাপ সরাবো হাত দে ".
This slogan make hell of a sense. So let's remove sins first , then pay attention to other necessary stuffs like restoration of pure democracy and etc etc.
But honestly I am impressed by your feelings. You are an AL supporter, yet you are too much upset because of the filthy vote rigging of AL. Trust me, when most of our peoples will think and feel like you , and act like that , then and only then pure form of democracy will be safeguard for our country .
Thank you.

Ps: @Homo Sapiens, please read the Bengali link tthoroughly. You will remember ( if you by any chance forget it) the master piece of khaleda zia. But don't go for any details, as it will only draw unnecessary and unexpected attention, you know what I am saying :) . Even BNP was embarrassed and refused that khaleda zia said that. Just read and keep in mind , your sorrow will be reduced a bit I believe. And now I only want freedom from the cancer at any cost :).

No one really cares.
People are too busy trying to survive.
As long as AL keeps the economy on track, they are safe.
This time I am supporting you ( the message )100%, but only this time okay? :P

@UKBengali, why are you so butt-hurt when someone criticizes BAL that has stolen the election? Please grow up a little.
Bro, there is no reason for u to hold grudge against AL. Just listen to what all the neutral observers have said about the election. Bnp is just upset for getting rejected by the public in such manner. Hence, they r making up these allegations to save their face. Its not uncommon in politics. Deep down they know that they have lost due to their own fault.

:o:
You AL guys ( soft version) still believe that khaleda zia is imbecile? You guys only can blame tareq Rahman , but never even think that tareq could not move a muscle without khaleda zia.
There are no such thing as hawao bhaban ( হাওয়া ভবন) in the gadget of Bangladesh govt, it was an artificial centre of power that was created by the real authority ( khaleda aka former PM). Go and find out the truth .

Let me ask you a question, why former DGFI chief was accused of the 2004 grenade attack? No govt officer will move a muscle because of the order of tareq Rahman , since he had no administrative power. Do you really believe that Bangladesh is a monarchy that everyone will be bound to obey the Prince ? No the life is not so easy .
Khaleda zia was responsible for all chaos in Bangladesh , and tareq Rahman was only a side kick of his mother, but later he was growing stronger (and could turn to a monster literally if he had administrative powers.).
And do not forget that our PM is also our defence minister, and that's the reason our military intelligence is directly under control of our PM aka defence minister.
So calling khaleda zia imbecile is showing unnecessary sympathy to this criminal.
Khaleda zia is not imbecile but common AL folks are. Khaleda zia is literally a witch hiding under the coat of lamb so you can call her imbecile.

What we see in bare eyes, truth is sometimes opposite.
