I agree with saad, i think Government should step up security for diplomats across the country to avoid any possible future kidnappings like Solecki's, but i'm really glad that he is free.:smokin:

QUETTA: A spokesman for the Balochistan Liberation United Front (BLUF) Saturday evening said that the group released UNHCR Balochistan Chief John Solecki.

In a phone call to a private news agency, the spokesman who identified himself as Shehek Baloch said that Solecki has been released in Khadi Kucha area of district Mastung.

Great news. Kudos to the Pakistani and UN interlucutors for securing his release. This good news is welcome break from the never ending depressing stories in the region.

Mr Solecki was released on humanitarian grounds by the BLUF could the same be expected of TTP I think not!

I think with the rise in K&R in the region we need to start developing a consultation briefing to counter this dramatic rise of incidents across Pakistan. The UN have already moved to level 3 "Relocation" on their security management system for Pakistan in Oct 08 and then to level 4 in Balochistan only recently.

So our government need to drive home the importance of the work the UN is doing in the under developed areas of Pakistan, and why we should all as people ensure we treat visitors with hospitality and care.

At a security level, perhaps a K&RE plan needs to be devised for UN and other foreign staff, this should then be provided to compliment the incountry briefing/induction when they start their work in Pakistan.
