At least two policeman were martyred and eight others injured in an explosion near Quetta's Serena Hotel on Sunday evening.

Four passers-by were also wounded in the blast that targeted a police mobile near Tanzeem Chowk, Balochistan government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani said in a statement.

He said the bomb was fitted into a motorcycle.

The injured were shifted to hospital, where an emergency was imposed.

He condemned the attack, saying "terrorists want to disturb Balochistan's peace and spread fear."

"[We] will bring to justice the elements trying to create disturbance in peaceful Balochistan," he added.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan also condemned the attack and expressed sadness over the martyrdom of the two police personnel.

"Terrorist elements want to ruin the province's peace. [We] will never allow terrorists to succeed in their nefarious plans," he was quoted as saying in a statement.

The chief minister directed officials to submit a report into the attack and to provide the best available treatment facilities to the injured.

The incident comes more than three months after a powerful bomb exploded in the parking lot of the Quetta Serena Hotel, killing five people and wounding a dozen others.

Since then, there have been a number of attacks in the city in which security personnel and civilians were wounded or lost their lives.

Late last month, at least four people were injured and a Frontier Corps (FC) vehicle was damaged in a blast in Hazar Ganji, a locality on the outskirts of Quetta.

On July 1, at least six security personnel were injured, two of them seriously, in a motorcycle bomb explosion that targeted an army convoy on Quetta's Airport Road.

Balochistan Inspector General Mohammad Tahir Rai had said that an IED had been planted on the motorcycle, which was detonated by remote control.

.

Why cant this safe city program go to Quetta, Peshawar etc and be subsidized by Federal/military's before going to Lahore or Karachi (I know in Lahore case they'll pay for their own but in case of western areas Fed should subsidize these programs)

Because Pakistan is ruled by selfish clowns who simply don't care about people dying in Fata and Balochistan??

All that is unnecessary the main issues is coming from the Kabul regime.. Just take unilateral decision and remove the Kabul remove that settles everything

If brass is waiting until after 9/11, I will see their decision. But, moment clock hits 12:00 am 9/12, we gotta see some people sent to hell on the other side.

Balochistan is 42% of the nation's total landmass. Let that sink in. When the TTP controlled territories in FATA, which is a sliver of the total landmass of Balochistan, it was able to unleash a wave of terror in the entire country. Even with Afghanistan totally pacified, the miscreants could operate freely with such an incompetent (technologically and tactically) archaic, dysfunctional security apparatus as ours. Even if external factors stir unrest in Balochistan, Quetta does not sit at the border as Lahore does with India. From the border to the Balochistan hinterland, the terrorists operate freely. They have weapons, human intelligence networks, do recce/surveillance of their targets, communicate with various elements in their chain of command—numerous opportunities to bust their modules at either of these steps if the proper tactics and 21st-century technologies are employed. But we can't due to structural bottlenecks marring our security institutions. Moreover, a regime losing provincial capital after provincial capital (could not keep its own territory) does have the juice to orchestrate terrorism in Pakistan? Highly unlikely. If there is any external power capable enough of doing so, that is the one General Bajwa asks to bury the past and move on. It's moving on and burying alright.

So there were 2 blasts, one outside Serena that was due to explosives on a motorcycle detonating and another aimed at a police mobile.

Look like everyone had IED in Balochistan and Waziristan , where is rad ul fasaad ?? Who started and who will finish this ?? Why not we eliminating these BLA terrorists?? Who is stopping us ?

That is the million dollar question. Quetta is the least developed out of Peshawar and Lahore, with Lahore being the most developed. So one can argue is that development is holding security back, but one can also argue that for that reason those areas should be the most on high alert.
Peshawar is actually pretty developed, (definitely in the top 5 developed cities in the country) I am surprised why they didn't think of this program - They can get money from feds due to thier proximity to Afghan border

Also we already have experience with this program- so it'll be a little cheaper this time around

I beg to differ all the logistical might is there plus technology and tactics and no the BLF is to insignficiant and can't be compared to 2007 TTP and there is only one solution and that solution is eliminate Kabul regime there you have it everything solved.. It is the inability of not wanting to end Kabul regime. They were operating largely from Afghanistan and as you have noticed since Taliban started to take everything they are vanishing by default in Balochistan

Dude like I said Peshawar is pretty devoloped, they did it through thier own funding - you just need professional gov who gives a shit

Adding this program is not a lot (cost wise) compared to some of the programs they already have

So not that hard

Main responsibility goes to local government or provincial ones

So it's not the "job" of federal government to do it for em but I believe they should

By forcing them to implement it and also subsidizing it, eventhough it's not thier responsibility

If provincial government isn't doing it then it is responsibility of federal government and even military to force provincial government to implement this system

But that is too much to ask in Pakistan I guess

My friend, you are in for a rude awakening. even when the Taliban take over Afghanistan, Balochistan would keep simmering. It is just too large. I am from the province. I know the lay of the land. It is perfect for guerilla-type warfare. TTP's example was given to show how with our security infrastructure TTP was able to unleash terror in the entire country. Balochistan is humungous and outfits operating here would have far greater flexibility in terms of inflicting losses if the deficiencies at the structural, doctrinal/tactical level in our security institutions are not sorted out.

Yes people I believe are playing blame game by shifting all the blame on Afghan gov/RAW

Which might be true but looking inward can solve a A LOT of our problems

Instead of solving our security infrastructure blaming it on 3rd party is counter productive

You do seem to enjoy glorifying on Pakistani casualties by always posting multiple tweets, images and even videos and image grabs from older incidents.....you sure you have correct flags in place.

I am for not only blaming but squaring with those involved in fomenting unrest in Pakistan. However, the blaming does take most of our energies which could be channeled to pressure the powers that be for meaningful reform in the security infrastructure of the country. We claimed premature victory post-Zarb e Azb. The momentum of Radd ul Fasad was lost post-Raheel Shareef era. We naively believed fences could pacify lands on the West of Indus. All those assumptions and premature drum beating are coming down crashing with a lethal wave of terrorism that is sweeping the country for a year now. The first stage is going to be targeting LEAs as we saw at the beginning of the '2000s, but it would surely graduate to attacks on the public in more urbanized parts of the country in coming times. If the gains of Zarb e Azb and Radd ul Fasad plus the ops in Kyani era were consolidated by investing in civilian CT institutions like CTD and NACTA, we would not be in this place. However, we were too busy claiming victories instead of utilizing the breathing space to undertake meaningful security and intelligence reforms in the country. More informed audiences like the ones on such forums were also least bothered because the tipping point was averted and they too bought the narrative of victory.

So reporting the news makes me suddenly a traitor? Also, how on earth am i glorifying this? If i have made an error then please go ahead and tell me where i made it so i can correct it instead of questioning my loyalty because you feel that you can't handle too much bad news.
