At least 13 people were killed and about 47 injured in a blast at Eidgah Market in Kurram Agency’s Parachinar area on Saturday, Express News reported.
The blast occurred in Eidgah Market’s Sabzi Mandi as people shopped for vegetables, killing 13 people and injuring several others, political agent Kurram Agency Ikramullah told The Express Tribune. The nature of the blast is yet to be determined.
“The bomb seems to have been planted in a vegetable crate,” Ikramullah said. According to officials, the death toll is expected to rise.
The injured were shifted to agency headquarters hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the area was cordoned off as investigation commenced.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan condemned the blast and ordered for a detailed report regarding the incident.
The death toll was expected to rise after the explosion at the Eidgah used-clothes market in Parachinar, the capital of Kurram Agency on the border with Afghanistan.
