Blasphemy Law Possible Modifications!

not long ago i was seeing tiny secular/liberal flying high in air, i'm glad that the realization has come. Don't try to impose western/secular interpretation of ISlam on us.

I will impose the very Pakistani secularism upon you which has nothing to do with Islam, neither oppose nor support and you HAVE to bear it.

.
Abu basit, one OT question: Are you of Arabi descent? Do you believe your ancestors were local arabic tribesmen at the time of PBUH?

People watching from the outside usually don't understand Pakistan. It's easy for the Mullahs to claim the majority as their own while the majority sits comfortably in no man's land. Pakistanis are traditionalists, so its easy for them subscribe to theocracy. Some very good people are only seemingly intolerant till they are shown a better way.

Of course that works the other way too, some seemingly good people might end up violently intolerant too. But the majority title is up for grabs, right now pro-intolerance people like Basit are only claiming victory by default statuses.

I mean before tooting their own horns, lets see them win at least one election... ever? :D

Death of Pakistani Secularism Much Exaggerated | Informed Comment

It was a good piece Asim, and yes, what you posted above is not something that i wasnt aware of it. The traditionalists as it says above are not the extremists, but as long as the traditionalists are unopposed to some ideas of the extremists or keep quiet what the bigots do, that is itself a support being given to the bigots---even if it is un-intentionally.

you are absolutely correct that outsiders normally don't understand Pakistan, what they don't understand is the fact that inspite of tremendous efforts from the tiny liberal/secular section, Pakistanis still have a very strong faith in their ideology and religion.

who cares abt the so called 'secular democracy' elections,
and if someone cares, lets see what the election winning PPP can do abt the blasphemy law. :cheesy:

That is a serious problem and nothing to rejoice about.

No amount of rona pitna would change the fact that secularism has nothing to do with Islam which includes nothing against it. It is only saying, "Abey itna rondhu na bann, mard ban and baatein sunnay ki himmat rakh".

Abu Basit, do you know if there is any punishement in islam if somebody insults another religion?

sirf Apni baat sunao, joa baat daeyn baeyn sey ghoom kar ati hai woa ek masla hai.

Islam is like a circle, within this circle do whatever one likes, even freedom to express one's viewpoint.

Islam gives protected rights to minorities.

you didnt answer me. protection on paper is not enough. yes, islam says that dont insult the other religoins, does this include non abrahimic religions as well? secondly, if somebody insults other religions(abrahimic and non abrahimic),then what is the punishment for it, no matter who the abuser is.

i have already given you the answer.

i agree with you, protection on paper is not enough. You want the practical implementation, right?
ok, the practical implementation will only come when Pakistan is governed by Islamic Laws. So, declaring Pakistan an Islamic State on papers is not enough, practical implementation is required!
