Sorry for poking my nose but you guys need an attitude like Vietnams. Vietnam beats USA & China by very little time span. What they had was LMGs and attitude to beat whomever attack them on their motherland. I am not saying that weapons are secondary but the attitude to kill is important

as said by US genral today, pakistan hasnt restricted its air space to US/NATO, if we have had told US clearly that violation will not be tolerated, NATo would not have violated our space in first place, but we have given a behind the scene green card to NATO?US forces...

what went wrong this time was that US hit an army post instead of militants...

we dont need airdefence system, we already have shoulder lauched SAMs and which are over effective against a C-130 and helicopters (already 3 kills ,mig21 and mi-17) , we need a govt/politicians to actually ask US not to violate our space..

unless they do so, we should expect further such events..whether they are intentional or by mistake

Pakistan has every right to use whateva we have in our arsenal but the question can we buy will power from China ? It is not so that we are short of resources. We have ample resources to at least show them what we people are upto.

Right now we do not have right tools to counter such threats. The question of will only comes after we have the right tools in hand. Rest assured that once those tools are in place so will be the will. And in any case once Pakistan deploys such systems, no NATO pilot would even dare to get close to Pakistani border without wetting his pants let alone thinking about shooting at Pakistanis. So once Pakistan has such systems the will of those pilots and their commanders are not going to be any better since even the loss of a single helicopter or A-10 or F-15 or F-18 would be disastrous for them. Right now they know that they can get away with it since the only danger they face when they are shooting at Pakistanis is engine failure. So that makes them bold. Once they know the area is under the cover of FD-2000 and LD-2000, the situation changes rapidly with regard to the will of the pilots.

1. Predator RQ-1 / MQ-1 / MQ-9 prop drones flying at subsonic speeds firing hellfire missiles
2. Helicopter gunships providing air support to ground troops

Do you really believe that Pak establishment which boasts of going toe to toe with Indian military cannot shoot down drones and helicopter gunships...Are those sidewinders on F16's and your SPADA 2000 only meant for the evil bharatis? pakistani leadership cannot flex it's muscles on its western front because of practical reasons. They lack the "will" to inflict any retaliatory damage on nato forces.

We copied yakhonth to make Brahmos and now we are making Mach 7 Brahmos way ahead of all other Cruise missiles.
And we are going to copy PAKFA as FGFA

Though F-16's can be scrambled by putting up an expensive and irreplaceable F-16 against a cheap drone is taking too much risk. Even if by chance the drone takes down an F-16 with its side winder then it is going to be a great loss. So the best option is to have strategic SAM's eg. FD-2000 in addition to local point defenses in the form of LD-2000. They are low cost systems with very low maintenance and are extremely effective. As for SPADA-2000, it is a capable system but has only a range of 25 Km so it can not work as a strategic SAM system only limited point defense. Pakistan needs strategic SAM coverage for whole of Pakistan not only for such incidences but also for any future Indian aggression as Indian air force is getting bigger every day. Buying 3000 SAM missiles for a dozen FD-2000 is much cheaper than buying hundreds of top notch superiority fighters with 3000 top notch air to air missiles. Besides SAM can defend against drones, cruise missiles and even have limited anti-ballistic missile defense capability something fighters can not usually give protection against.

I guess Pakistans scientists shold be capable to develop their own SAM missile systems instead of buying from abroad . If they can't make them they shold be sent home...we dont need these kinda lazy @$$ engineers and scientists.....and shut down all the Unniversities who can't produce the worthy scientists and engineerz. and give the contract of our defences to China if our Army is incapable to defend our country ......

Now that Gen. Kiyani has also ordered, the problem of will power which the critics on this thread were saying, has been solved too. What we need now is a modern blanket coverage of SAM's for Pakistan.

Developing such systems will take a long time. Pakistan should get such systems in a year or if possible in months. We can later on develop our own but right now we need these fast. The thing is if we are already buying fighter jets and frigates why not air defense systems. In fact air defense systems are more important than all other things since all modern wars waged by big nations today are dependent on air superiority. Deny them that superiority and these modern armies become impotent as they can not fight on the ground.

China does not need to fight a war for Pakistan just like Russia does not need to fight a war for India despite having given India S-300 SAM batteries.

UAV's can be effectively taken care of by using the Chinese FD-2000 SAM system from 125 Km away. USAF never has gone to war with a country which has good defenses. All they have done is taking on weak countries which never could ensure a good air defense. That is why US went out of its way to block the sale of S-300 to Iran.

If Pakistan going for Missile defense against NATO forces, its a waste of money, you can't match NATO with technology.

Do not underestimate their electronics jamming capabilities. You might never know that you systems were jammed.
