Note the article's date. Note today's date. So where have you uninformed souls been since? Lurking in the "trust deficit" think tank with the lights out and earplugs in?

It didn't require much to find the above but I doubt any here had the curiousity to GET IT RIGHT.

From my face-to-face encounters with Pakistani diplomats, students, and teachers in the U.S., I'd have to say "embarrassment". However, I do see a great deal of #2 on PDF.

That's to be expected, of course. The diplomats, students, and teachers have to know their stuff, but can't always voice it. Here, on the other hand...

Well, let me offer an example and you determine one or the other from it. Gates' Pakistani counterpart, Ahmad Mukhtar, makes an interesting comment a couple of months back.

This after years of absolutely categorical denial. Any retraction? Any clarification? Now you see it. Now you don't. Voila!

Find a thread about such here. Find commentary of betrayal about such here. Find outrage at the duplicity of such here. I ask as I can find all sorts of defenses offered here prior to said comment.

AM explained that the defense minister merely misspoke or was misquoted, taimikhan pointed out that he was recovering from heart surgery, and AA claimed that operations against whatever were and are successful, adding that "we can't even trust it since Zardari's guy declared it, not the military."

No poster admitted to embarrassment. They just offer hypotheses to explain it all away without checking it out themselves.

Can you imagine a deception of this magnitude not being ripped to shreds from every quarter in America?

What would you like to say about so Super Dooper Mr. Robert Gates who admitted and then refused to won his words? But I see America is habitual in finding Weapons of Mass Destruction and then admitting they were mistaken.. also in Afghanistan, calling Taliban as Axis of Evil and then saying "Taliban are actually moderate" and previously they were mistaken. Sir its time to start owning your trash. We know how much floppy and sloppy we are but here Americans need to see the mirror and own their loop hones and @ss holes.

But I see America is habitual in finding Weapons of Mass Destruction and then admitting they were mistaken.. also in Afghanistan, calling Taliban as Axis of Evil and then saying "Taliban are actually moderate" and previously they were mistaken. Sir its time to start owning your trash. We know how much floppy and sloppy we are but here Americans need to see the mirror and own their loop hones and @ss holes.

I am a reader of PDF for couple of years now. I usually or may be- mostly dont agree with what S-2 writes. But the language used here is totally uncalled for.

well, they are operating as individual countries...uhm individual companies here in Pakistan......in Afghanistan and in Iraq because there are theaters of war involving the United States. There are rules
concerning the contracting companies. If they are contracting with us or the state department here in Pakistan then there are very clear rules set forth by the state department and by ourselves.

now when has a politician not put a foot in his mouth and retracted what was originally stated. obviously the defence officials went on damage control later and issued a more clear and consise statement indicating that, "Mr. Gates had been speaking about contractor oversight more generally and that the Pentagon didn't employ Xe in Pakistan." Now why couldn't gates just say something like that initially? instead of admitting partially that blackwater operated in Pakistan under strict rules and then having the defense officials trying to clear up his mess.
