Black Day in Kashmir

Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world will observe Indian Republic Day, today, as Black Day to remind the international community that India’s continued denial of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination is contrary to its claim of being a democratic republic.

Call for the observance of the Day has been given by the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, the High Court Bar Association and other pro-liberation leaders and organisations. The day will be marked with a complete strike in occupied Kashmir with all business establishments, offices, banks and courts remaining closed.

Its not even Pakistani flag. It was a green flag with crescent on it. Even in Andhra Pradesh people waved this flag.

FAIL, this happened three years back in 2010, and those who were protesting where of known background with separatists links backed by Pakistani govt, a survey by a UK based neutral group few years ago showed that only 42% of kashmiris wanted independence, and surprisingly 43% kashmiris in Pakistani side wanted independence; and this was not on republic day, this was on 11 september eid ul fitr day.

Though the Republic Day functions have been incident-free for the past some years now, yet authorities are not taking any chances and are maintaining a maximum vigil.

A full dress rehearsal of the parade was held in Bakshi stadium on Thursday.

Doesnt make up for the fact that India doesnt want to do a census hosted by he UN to decide who will get Kashmir, because India knows it will lose in getting popular vote

Besides surveys arent very accurate as they use sample subjects. The census by the UN, India is very scared of
