I don't think Lakhvi factor could have been foreseen. But I can assure you the political power that Karuna and Marans had was immensely more powerful than RS Prasad has ever had. They're from a family of dozens of people who held power locally and nationally for close to 50 years. If they can be screwed, RS Prasad will fall far quicker if this things blows.
I was not comparing their political powers. I was talking about personal integrity. When UPA was in its formative stage, DMK was hellbent on ATM ministries. Every body knows that Karuna family is a gang of crooks. On the other hand Ravi Shankar Prasad has rather clean image. Being from same state, I know him and thats why I responded to this.
Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav have done another Gadkari episode. Deriving any positive mileage out of this is very very difficult while there is good chance of getting sued. Gadkari did not push Kejriwal too much and forgave him but Ravi Shankar Prasad may not be same.
Expect people to be vocal n force the concern authority to take appropriate action though I have not seen the video.... Ye desh naah toh BJP Ki jaagir hai naah khoongress Ki ......
How much you think he should have taken ?Or else there would be no issue right? There was no conflict of interest if he was not a minister when he took the money (even then there can be actually, but here it is after he became minister)
Only 'retainer fees' over 6 months baba. And only one company- think 5 companies retainer only will be 4 crores. And special services will cost extra only.
Of course they did and it was the case with UPA 1 too. Such illuminating personalities like Shibu Soren in charge of coal ministry, ATM to banna hi tha. I believe both are up to the game. Like if BJP offered 1 crore to AAP MLAs in return for abandoning AAP, then that money has to come from somewhere right? Plus, if they dole out 1 cr, they will expect return of at least 1.5 cr right?
I think the idea that whenever AAP exposes corruption of BJP they need to be attacked is silly. You know in your heart that BJP is as corrupt as the congress, then why even bother to pretend that is not the case? You know that Gadakari is corrupt, then why bother to defend him?
And far from being just 'publicity stunts' Prashant Bhushan has really kicked the BJP on several occasions. The fact that the CBI director was removed from investigating Telecom is entirely his doing. Else what the congress was doing was exactly what the BJP wanted to do too- rig investigations.
I am too practical to expect absolute honesty from ANY political party or, any govt. agency. Indian Political system demands certain level of corruption and Every party indulges in this. I therefore do not defend any politician on this front except a few.
Gadkari may be corrupt ( I dont have any proof of either being corrupt or, honest ) But he is probably best performing infrastructure minister for a state in last 2-3 decades. I therefore would like him to handle Transport ministry. Same is the case with Suresh Prabhu. He is also a performer. I therefore will give them benefit of doubt unless they are proved to be corrupt in Court of Law.
As much as Prashant Bhushan is concerned, I think he is Subramaniam Swamy of AAP ( with lesser intellect, personal integrity and "Hindutva" ). Yogendra Yadav is a cunning felllow but has no political backing and may not be very good for AAP in long run.
The different between you and me is that I'm under no illusion that BJP is just as corrupt, if not more corrupt than congress. Worse, they will distract us from this fact by constantly raking up religious issues.
The pendulum of history has swung from one ideology to the other- the left dominated society, tired of empty promises has looked to a man who has promised unbridled capitalism. But history shows that this is the second phase where crony capitalism dominates- we will cringe away from this too. And that historical experience in not from socialist countries but capitalist countries like USA. If you think ideology alone takes a country forward- let me point out Pakistan, they've been capitalist from the time of their independence...that hasn't prevented them from complete failure. And historically it's these fringe cranks like Kejriwal and Bhushan (like Von Hayek in the UK) that force the hand of history.
