Patna Almost all political parties in Bihar have fielded candidates with criminal background in the ensuing Assembly elections with the ruling JD(U) and BJP topping the list with 72 such nominees.
National Election Watch, an NGO, says according to the affidavit filed by candidates for the six-phased elections, BJP has fielded 41 'tainted' candidates, while JD(U) has 31 such nominees in the fray.

Ramvilas Paswan's LJP has 13 candidates, who according to their affidavits, have been chargesheeted in criminal cases.

The affidavits of 57 RJD candidates show that the party has fielded 22 who have criminal cases pending against them, the NGO said. Some of the candidates face charges of murder, kidnapping, extortion and loot.

The winner is BJP; 73 tainted men

NEW DELHI: Whatever be the results of the December 1 assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, the BJP has emerged a clear winner as far as candidates facing criminal charges are concerned.

Out of the 753 affidavits collected by MP Election Watch and 65 other NGOs, 153 aspiring MLAs in the state have criminal cases pending against them. Analysis of the affidavits done by a Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) team led by Venkatesh Nayak and Bibhu Mahapatra has found that the BJP tops the list in MP with 45 chargesheeted politicians in election fray.


The BSP follows with 15, closely followed by arch-rival SP, which has 14. The ruling Congress has fielded 10 alleged criminals while the NCP and Shiv Sena have fielded six each. As many as 30 independents are facing serious criminal charges. The JD (U) has two, the CPI three, the CPM one and other regional parties have 19 alleged criminals in the arena.

Among the national parties, BJP is again on top when it comes to the number of cases. Harendrajit Singh, contesting from Jabalpur West, has 18 criminal cases against him ranging from rioting, robbery, criminal assault on a public servant, extortion with death threats to cheating and forgery. Another BJP candidate, Nagar Singh, from Alirajpur, has 12 cases against him, most of which are serious.

In the Congress, the candidate with the maximum number of criminal cases is Yadvendra Singh. He is fighting from Nagod and has eight cases against him. But SP candidates are clear winners. Sunilam, who has been part of many peoples' movements, including the Narmada Bachao Andolan, has 63 cases against him of all types: From singing obscene songs and dacoity to murder.

Another SP candidate, Manmohan Singh, contesting from Majhauli, not only has a murder charge against him but also a case of attempting to outrage the modesty of a woman.

In Rajasthan, out of the 713 affidavits collected by the Mazdoor Shakti Sangathan of Aruna Roy, Rajasthan Election Watch and analysed by the CHRI team, 101 candidates were found to be involved in criminal cases.

Of these, 28 have been fielded by the BJP, 15 by the Congress, and five each by the SP and Shiv Sena. There are 18 independents in the fray in Rajasthan with criminal cases against them.

Again, the BJP beats the Congress in the case count. The BJP's Banshi Lal from Rajsamand has eight cases against him. Strangely, his affidavit mentions a case for abetment of an offence punishable with death sentence or life term, but does not mention the offence. Ranveer Singh, representing a regional outfit and trying his luck from Gudha, has 16 cases against him.

First you open a thread TWISTING the title just to suit you.

Second, you try to justify your title through a post in which you say that SINCE BJP has 1 more MP on criminal charges than Congress, it becomes the LARGEST GOON PARTY OF INDIA.

Third, when i pointed out this issue, you desperately try to prove yourself by articles from assembly & even muncipal elections that too SELECTIVELY.

Fourth, you conveniently try to hide the figures of congress, while enlarging & coloring the BJP figures, while anyone who reads the complete article can understand very well that both BJP & Congress have no large difference (UP case which you pointed out BJP-36%, Congress-34%).

So, your SELECTIVE bias is more than CLEARLY visible. I am open for a debate, but not on selective areas of your choice. I can also bring figures of Congress SELECTIVELY as you did it for BJP.

If you think that you can change my opinion like this than sorry bad luck, as i said, criminals are in every party, but atleast i don't want to vote for one which brings a new scam every second month, & every scam is breaking the record of it's predecessor, Rs. 1lakh crore of taxpayers money is no big deal nowadays.

Parties field candidates on there win-ability, if more GOONS are becoming candidates or are getting elected to Parliament/assemblies/muncipalities than it's our fault (It needs Two to Tango), since we voted them on the first place. Parties just give us CHOICES, they don't force us to elect a goon, so did you ask this question to urself??

1. BJP has 42 criminals out of total 115 members (36%) and congress has 41 criminals out of 203(20%) in Loksabha. I'm not defending congress which is too heavily involved , but Fact is fact.

2. I'm not presenting seletcive state , BJP is strong in MP,Rajasthan,UP,Gujrat,Bihar,Uttarakhand,Karnataka,Dilli and Himachal Pradesh. BJP selecting criminals in Centre is not exception , Pattern is followed in every state it has representation.

BJP is the main opposition party of India, and congress the ruling Party.

BJP is goon party, and congress with more goons in her party than BJP means?
