Bill Mehar Bulldozed by Dr. Reza Aslan

Very much so.

Like so many Jewish bigots (his mother is Jewish), Bill Maher constantly trashes Christians and Muslims, but goes soft on Jewish extremists.

He lost all credibility with his movie Religulous where he castigated Christian and Muslim extremists. When it came time to look at Jewish extremists, he chose to bash ultra-Orthodox Jews who oppose Israel, completely giving a pass to the far larger mass of Jewish extremists who use religion to support Israel.

This is another guy, ex CIA Michael Scheuer giving a fat one to Bill Mahar.

Foreign policy isn't decided by the average joes, buddy.

True.

The average American is no better educated about the complexities of foreign policy than is the average Asian or African.

People watch the media outlets which echo their preconceived views, not to learn, but to cheer on.

Watched the video. Apparently Reza does not have a very high opinion of Pakistan.

He's a psuedo-liberal through and through. He also makes some pretty shameless statements.

Can't you folks get by without shit shovelling every damn thread?

Here, shovel full of shit, here, toss some back, here, don't forget your shovel.

Both Bill Maher and Reza Aslan are partially correct. Where Bill Maher took one extreme, Reza Aslan went another. The truth lies in between almost everywhere in the Islamic world. I agree we must not generalize things about certain issues but then you can also not simply pass the buck to one set of people and one country to defend yourself. The problem lies some where in mid of where Bill and Reza think it is.

Are you referring to Reza Aslan here? I think he, being married to a Christian, would probably be declared non Muslim (Kafir) at some places but I like the way he put forth his arguments.

Nope, Bill Maher. Reza Aslan is a scholar, serious scholarly work he does. Bill Maher is a comedian with a hugely bloated ego, that often compels him to say stupid things, it's not the first time he has done this.

I dont think that's his view of a whole country but an attempt to explain it to a pea sized brain some basic things. His argument can further be boiled down to the idea that some evil doers are not representing whole country. Its a pretty easy concept to understand but 3 kind of people dont get it (or dont want to get it?).
  • Fox like news channels
  • People that have to be spoon fed every bit of information and even help digest it
  • People who come here with an agenda or in Jungibaaz's words, with a shovel to throw shit around.
Its prolly the same reason every Indian here or else where is not called a rape crazed moron.

Apparently living in America didn't change your opportunistic third world predator mentality.

Yes, you know more than the academic with qualifications in religious studies about his own faith.

Do you really think his degrees would come to his defense, if he ever comes up with an academic study which goes against the faith he follows?

I don't want to get into debate for what you Muslims believe but google it and find it yourself what most Muslims will call a Muslim who marries a non-Muslim without converting her. What Reza as an academician thinks about such marriages, would have no effect on what religious scholars of Islam think about it..

one thing i do not agree with Reza and that is that he said in his interview that Jesus was crucified and And Islam has it wrong, by saying this he has totally refused the beliefs of Muslims as Jesus was taken up by Allah S.W.T. and that is he will return to earth.to complete his life on earth. that is what i have been taught. any comments about this will be welcome.

You have it wrong man, Muslims are allowed to marry women from other Religions except those who worship statues. Let me put up a copy of a letter written by Prophet Mohammed S.A.A.S. to Christians at the time.

    • Prophet Muhammad's Letter To The Monks Of St. Catherine Monastery by abibio2001: 6:25am On Apr 27, 2011
In 628 C.E. Prophet Muhammad (s) granted a Charter of Privileges to the monks of St. Catherine Monastery in Mt. Sinai. It consisted of several clauses covering all aspects of human rights including such topics as the protection of Christians, freedom of worship and movement, freedom to appoint their own judges and to own and maintain their property, exemption from military service, and the right to protection in war.

An English translation of that document is presented below.

This is a message from Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, near and far, we are with them.
Verily I, the servants, the helpers, and my followers defend them, because Christians are my citizens; and by Allah! I hold out against anything that displeases them.
No compulsion is to be on them.
Neither are their judges to be removed from their jobs nor their monks from their monasteries.
No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims' houses.
Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God's covenant and disobey His Prophet. Verily, they are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate.
No one is to force them to travel or to oblige them to fight.
The Muslims are to fight for them.
If a female Christian is married to a Muslim, it is not to take place without her approval. She is not to be prevented from visiting her church to pray.
Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants.
No one of the nation (Muslims) is to disobey the covenant till the Last Day (end of the world).
