How should have things unfolded? It was Federal Government who wanted the FIR and the corrupt IG was refusing to uphold the law! PTI MNAs and MPAs were demanding FIR for the whole day before IG was apparently woken up. Rangers fall under MOI (that is Federal Gov) and ISI under PM - so nothing to do with Establishment.

It may even have been IB who threatened the IG to act. Upholding the law is his duty and if he refuses, PM could replace him with just one simple letter! And remember, PM appoints+removes IG of each province.

For your information there is separation of powers in Pakistan. Army chief had to oblige Supreme Court decision on his extension. Imran Khan had to oblige Islamabad and Lahore High Court decision on Nawaz Sharif. Executive alone cannot decide what to do with national criminals like Nawaz Sharif and Zardari unless the judiciary is on the same page. Had judiciary not been staffed with criminals that have soft corner for their like minded people, these problems would not exist

Also if PPP is involved in this then why the IG and several DIGs have gone on leaves? Are they being threatened by the PPP government. Seems unlikely!
Might be possible, that all the opposition are on board in all of this melodrama to defame the Army. But what ever it is, its has become complicated and there is no easy climax for this.
