A group of dissident leaders of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) on Friday announced a new committee, relieving its president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, secretary general Abdul Mannan and joint secretary general Mahi B Chowdhury from the party.

Advocate Shah Alam Badal, who was expelled from BDB on October 13 over joining Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Front’s programme, came up with the announcement while talking to reporters in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Friday.

Party presidium member and Dhaka University Prof Nurul Amin Bepari has been made the president of the new committee while Shah Alam Badal its general secretary.

Badal said, “We’re scheduled to hold a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club this morning, but when we went there the authorities concerned didn’t allow us to hold the programme saying that our booking has been cancelled.”

“We’ve decided to relieve AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, Abdul Mannan and Mahi B Chowdhury from the party as per section 5/2 of the party constitution for violating its discipline,” he said.

Badal claimed that they are the main stream of BDB and will soon join the Jatiya Oikya Front.

On October 13, the B Chowdhury-led BDB expelled its vice president Shaha Alam Badal and another leader from the party for violating its discipline, UNB reported.

A statement, issued by the new president and general secretary of the party, said the full-fledged committee will be announced as soon as possible following the rules of the party.

This is good news. Badruddoza and his son Mahi were overestimating themselves. Mahi was demanding 150 seats from BNP. Everybody knows the alliance will one get votes because of BNP, rest of the parties combined can't get more than a few thousands.

Yes and that's the reason it's very hard to almost impossible for Bangladesh to become a civilized nation like western nations.
Here family dynasty is predominant. We shout about changes yet every one of us as super a.s.shole enough to worship those 2 mafia family, yet day and night whine about either development ( tiny amount of development that we shamelessly preach as heavenly) , or movement for stinky democracy.
But in reality because of our nature we deserve nothing but lashing on our bump until it bleeds.
And that's exactly we are getting every day, still whining that ( one group )we are developing and others are trying for eye washing democracy.
And no one can leave Jamat directly because if BNP leave Jamat ,awami league will take them by declaring them as neo freedom fighter party purified by holy awami machine.
That's the reason that leader like b chowdhury is deprived.
If dedicated leaders like b chowdhury wouldn't be trashed after death of Ziaur Rahman, bangladesh would not fall prey under family dynasty.
So what happened has happened for good.
Bangal need lash and they are getting it.

Bikalpa leadership in Bikalpa dhara to offer a bikalpa to BAL. Not like we have too many other bikalpas.

All this Oikya front hoopla will result in squat if BNP fails to come up with a strong and honest leader. Likes of Dr. Kamal and Mirza Fakhrul Islam are not leadership material.

@T-Rex proposed Mahmudur Rahman which I am supportive of but he is yet to be seen in the picture.

Bottom line is we need a strong, credible opposition to earn our democracy back.

Actually who has leading capability in Bangladesh now a days ? All politicians became pet dogs of the two ladies.
So whom do you expect to be a good leader ?
Fakhrul is a slave of khaleda zia no doubt. But maybe Kamal has this capability ? He is atleast not like the pets of BNP and AL?
But honestly I think some Retired military leaders can be better alternative. But how can they lead the two party I have no idea.

Which Mahmudur Rahman you are talking about, the Editor? But, not all people are accepted as the chief leader. I think instead of becoming a top leader he can do well in propagating the Jatiyo Oikkyo Front (JOF) causes through his writings.

Dr. Kamal Hossain and President B. Chowdhury have both the name and face values. But, in my opinion, the latter wrongly insisted to oust Jamaat when it is not even registered with the CEC. In the present situation, I expect a number of Jamaat leaders will get the JOF nomination as individuals.

This is needed because of the Jamaat supporters in all other constituencies will then vote for the candidates nominated by the JOF. I was expecting the former President to show a little prudence. He left JOF only because BNP wanted to keep Jamaat with it to get their supporters as its vote bank. I think BNP and Dr. Kamal's decision on Jamaat is very pragmatic.

Mahi wanted to get rid of Jamaat because he wanted to attract progressive urban youth vote.

It is good to know Mahi's thinking. Hope, Mahi will attract the progressive-minded youths in some future elections. That will certainly be good for the country. But, this is 2018 and to win the election the Opposition needs support from all the organized quarters including Jamaat.

The progressive-minded youths tend to identify themselves nowadays with BAL. Mahi's policy would have split these voters but in an unequal two, and it would not have compensated the number of Jamaat voters absent from the election centers had their people not included in the Opposition. This is what I think.
