Bihar topper scam: Ruby Rai fails re-examination, arrested

Ruby Rai had scored 444 out of 500 marks in her intermediate exams in the Arts stream but she was clueless when Aaj Tak asked some basic questions about her core subjects.

Hajipur district topper Ruby Rai, who was accused of cheating in class 12 exams, was arrested by the Special Task Force today.

This came after Rai failed to answer certain questions before an expert committee formed by the Bihar School Examination Board.

Ruby Rai had scored 444 out of 500 marks in her intermediate exams in the Arts stream but she was clueless when Aaj Tak asked some basic questions about her core subjects.

"Prodigal (read political) science is about cooking," she said when asked what political science is all about.

Ruby is not alone. Science topper Saurabh Shrestha, who scored 485 out of 500 marks, failed to answer a simple Chemistry question.

PROBE ORDERED

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) had ordered a probe into the results of toppers of intermediate exams a couple of days after Aaj Tak showed a report highlighting their poor knowledge about the subjects they had excelled in.

The BSEB had put on hold the results of Arts topper Ruby Rai and Science topper Saurabh Sreshtha. The board also conducted a review exam for both of them on June 3.

CHEATING RAMPANT IN BIHAR BOARD EXAMS

Bihar Board's class 10 and 12 exams have hogged headlines every year due to the rampant mass cheating. Every year, reports and visuals surface of guardians and friends helping their wards cheat in the exams.

However, this year, the Nitish government took some tough measures to ensure cheating-free exams. All the examination centres were put under CCTV surveillance.
The authorities had even announced a fine of up to Rs 10,000 on students found using unfair means and punish the guardians found helping their child cheating.

When see responded that political/prodical science is about cooking I thought she is joking & she might be having problem in calling wrong name of political science, in my childhood I called New York as Newrak but when I heard correct pronunciation I corrected myself.

But when that science topper told most reactive element in periodical table as Aluminium, I couldn't believe myself.
I thought by cheating any student may get passing marks but topping is entirely different, now I have example...
BIHAR on which Lalu is proud off.
Being from a BIMARU state I too feel embraced but I know we are ahead in many things even from Gujarat, MH & WB then I feel somewhat satisfied.
What satisfied me was closing excess number of school & now I heard most schools will get full staff.

Matlab kuch bhi... Uparwaale ne bolne ko itna bada muh diya to bolne se pehle sochne ke liye dimaag bhi to diya naa?? Had karte ho Sirjee.. How the hell is this episode even remotely related to BJP or RSS? The guilty college belongs to a senior RJD leader who happens to be a close friend of the one and only Laalu prasad. Now anyone who has even an iota of knowledge about Bihar politics would know that BJP and RJD are bitter opponents. They are on the opposite ends of the political spectrum.

On topic - BSEB board is notorious for being most ill-managed, corrupt and decrepit state education board in all of India. Remember the story of last year in the same 12th board exams when photos of people climbing 4-5 floors of outer walls of exam centers in Chapra vent viral on the net?
