Biggest deal: IAF may buy 189 jets for $20bn

more likly time line..thats why India has to focus on LCA to cover up the gaps and get rid of falling mig21s

No one look at ur Posts... :P By the way, I would suggest you not to mix the things... Its so many times disscussed that MMRCA is not to replace MiG21.. It is to complement M2000H, jaguar and MiG23/27/29....

MiG21 will be replaced by its class, that is Light class fighter... Which is LCA...

get your fact straights bro the MMRCA is supposed to replace the retired MiG-23 fighter fleet and the non MiG-21 bison fleet maybe some MiG-27 and Jaguar but these will be replaced by AMCA most likely

.
jags wont be replaced for some time yet or india wouldnt be spending millions in re-engining them.
Mrca will probably replace the mig 27s and mig 21s.
I think its almost gauranteed that the iaf will go for the additional mrca's - look at the lca programme history - there is bound to be a delay in the mk2( probably not a big one but iaf will love an excuse to get more of the mrca). From all reports the pak fa programme is doing very well, in some places its even ahead of schedule.

.
which is why we need to get TATA and Mahindra aerospace involved NAL etc to help manufacture them we need to get all 126+ MMRCA fighters inducted and in service by or before 2020

we cannot trust these private firms with such sensitive equipment like jet fighters you do realise a very strong regime would be required to make sure no classified technologies are leaked or sold to others

.
the IAF new inductions are not intended to replace old planes if that will be the case we'll end up operating a lot of aircrafts. we'll basically have a 3 tiered system with whole fleet divided into 3 parts heavy/medium/light
Su-30 MKI - heavy class long range fighter forming upper 3rd of the fleet
MMRCA - Medium class Intermediate range fighters to form middle 3rd of the fleet
LCA - light class Short range fighters foming lower 3rd of the fleet

So plz do not be fooled by numbers at the moment we've all seen just how quickly the no. to be inducted can increase when it comes to IAF. If deal is signed this year then by end of the decade the number could go upto 200+ very easily

.
As per the article it is clearly mention that india cannot increase the follow on order more than 50% than one originally mentioned in the RFI so can we say that 189 will be the maximum number of jets India can buy under mmrca deal.:undecided:

.
when is the questionas...we dont see amca or pakfa or even MRCA before 2017..are these sucidal planes still going to fly!!

look at your neighbours with relativly newer airframe they are desparate to replace then in next few years..

while india doesnt has any plans to replace its mig 21 last i heard is lca mark 2 isnt up in till 2014(unless you plan too fly it without an engine) while MRCA india will be lucky to start production around 2015 ..

lastly if you think amca will replace mig 27..it means by that all of your mig 27 would have been crashed with pilots dying along it ..(as amca isnt going to be ready before 2030 for induction!!)

last 10 years have shown 13 crashes..and this is going to go up not down

will someone please clear my query?
thanks in advance.

Well Su30 MKI production is expected to continue till 2017-18 coz the idiot babus at HAL said that they will reduce the MKI production rate after 2014 , from 28 aircraft a yr at present to 13 aircrafts a yr in 2015 ,
the reason for this is that they will divert some skilled labor to LCA production line so as to increase its production from 8 aircraft a yr in 2012 to 20 aircraft a yr in 2016-17
also , since MKI upgrade programme will begin in 2013 , some trained engineer and labor will be diverted for this project

thereafter , in 2018-20 MkI production line would be required for FGFA

The main trouble with producing so many jets at once is the extral lines cost more, driving up aircraft cost. Plus a short-run is a lot of investment to throw them into dis-use within a few years (along with the employees, defense contracts are not only about defense, but economy too)

How if we, lets say as a part of offset ask the winner to set up one or two lines at his own cost in HAL, could be a good idea isnt it? But not sure if it is there...or its just a vague idea.

Well of course we can order for more once MRCA is over, we can also increase the number fo fighters whenever we want...

but won't the lossing sides rebel against it as we will be going beyond the number we have mentioned in RFI.:undecided:
