Maybe not now,but there was a great desire for Turkish government for joining EU.Even if you can join EU,they are gonna look at you as strangers because:1-Turkey is closer to Asian countries than European ones,both in culture and language 2:Turkey is a Muslim majority country. About Franco-German block,I assure you,Britons would still choose Germany and France over Turkey,because history shows these countries back each other more than any other 'foreigner'.Maybe joining EU have some good possibilities and benefits for Turkey,but as you said,Turkey shouldn't insist on it too much.They shouldn't think that you need them so bad,but you should act like they need you actually.EU countries want to get rid of Russian monopoly in gas exports to Europe.Turkey is the best route for an alternative route,sending ME countries natural gas (Iran is the best choice here) to Europe.So they need you too.

I dont agree with the british part , they will do ''ANYTHING'' and side with anyone if it is in their ''INTERESTS''.

We did a very big project which is breaking russian monopoly one is nabucco pipline

Nabucco ( politically and strategically important as well as economic )

and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline

You can read more on wiki or elsewhere but they really undermine russian influence and monopoly and threats to cut gas .

What they have? Freedom and basic human rights for everyone for example. I dont want a union with countries that dont respect their own citizens.

Era, the failure of Greece is not because of the EU but because of Greece, if there was no EU Greece would have been bankrupt by now. On the other hand what do you get from joining a Union with the thiefs and thugs of all countries? Nothing.



No one said that we run on EU money. But the fact is we're getting a lot of loans from various development banks of the EU, which finance many projects with the aim to help Turkish citizens. We're also getting some money for free, thats all part of the EU accession process.

And what was the failure of Spain, Italy, Portugal and Ireland genius ? Don't let your hatred towards your neighbours cloud your objectivity .. things are serious.. more so than you know ..

infact i dont understand why we are letting russians build our nucleur power plant , on one way we have good relations . eg economic , even cultural somehow many cultural exchanges , but on one hand we have a rather bitter type relationship

I don't think Turkish foreign policy makers became crazy enough to actually consider being a member of Shangai Union instead of European Union. I hope he is just messing with the Europeans.

Out of every member you could accuse of hatred towards our neighbours you took one that actually cheered for Greece in Euro 2004, in the last tournament, who actually has Greek friends and has been to Greece for vacation.

But that doesnt change the fact that Greece shouldnt be in the Eurozone to begin with because you didnt fullfill the criteria, I mean you certainly know the story about with GoldmanSachs and how they screwed you and the Eurozone. Just because I didnt mention every country that is in deep **** right now, that doesnt mean that I feel animosity against Greece.

Putin is a smart guy. He is guiding Turkey in a right way cuz EU is already going down. Turkey will never be made EU member nomatter what.........its better for Turkey to find new friends.......

I think erdogan said it as joke, he say same think (NAFTA) to obama two or tree years ago. this joke is also some truth, its a message to germany and france.
