Big procurement plan for Bangladesh Navy

$260m is adequate for a frigate, china recently displayed a modified type 54a targeted for the export market thats priced in that region.

AFAIK China offer is 3 for $1billion. So it's closer to $330million, but for some reason they still lose to much more expensive Korean frigate.

.
It will come in due course.

BD is focusing first on economic development and the growing economy will support
an ever expanding military.

The Indians soon will be facing another Pakistan, minus nuclear weapons, in the east.

Agreed bro, economic development is of paramount importance. A strong Bangladesh is important for the sub-continent.

Bangladesh, with the funds should explore a Western option for the BAF e.g. the Grippen. Going back to the Navy a couple of 214's would be great.

Its never just about the price, theres far more to it like industrial offsets, transfer of tech, political alliances and of course corruption.

This about what u wish for. You will be destroyed before you can move.

Relity: we will never let people of this mind to come in power in BD. lol

Nothing India can do to stop BD from building a very capable military
by 2030.

Even Awami League are now openly talking of getting cutting edge frigates and submarines.

In a decade India will have zero influence in BD.

A middle income country of 150 million+ can become a strong military power easily.

By 2050 also BD will not have a single weapon to threat India. Look at the plans. The Cost of our one ship is much more costly and powerful than your entire navy. You can never ever imagine having a military satellite or nuclear submarine.

Lol. BD has no need for nuclear submarine.

BD is only interested in self defence and 8-10 modern SSKs would mean that India would find it very difficult to blockade BD.

We don't want conflict with India but need to arm ourselves should the situation arise.

you are kidding right ??

No.I can see the BD military of 2030 and it will may even be more powerful than Pakistan's conventionally since we need not spend many billions on nuclear weapons.:dance3:

With Pakistan in the West, BD in the East, China in the NE and Chinese carrier battle-groups roaming the Indian Ocean, India will be made to behave. The days of Indian mischief in South Asia will soon come to an end.

Well BN did look at the Incheon class from Korea recently and these are priced around $250m each. Would make sence as BN already uses a korean frigate and has a good relationship with SK.

Other options are modified chinese type 54As similar to that offered to Thailand, Turkeys TF-100 or a russian option, bit of a stretch as BN don't have experience with Russian ships.

Actually the Incheon class would be a very bad purchase. They only have 21 short-range SAMs.

For a similar price, China would sell a frigate that would contain 32 medium-range VLS SAMs. This frigate could also protect other ships due to the range of the radar and SAMs.

BD needs to consolidate around Chinese systems as they provide the best performance/price ratio.

That may not happen, the current gov wants to diversify their sources and move away from china.

Hope the military can persuade the government not to spend billions buying inferior arms just because they happen to not come from China.
