Honestly, I will have to open a thread on this but Musharaf turned out to be the worst leader Pakistan has ever had by a country mile. This comes from me who was somewhat ambivalent towards him back in early 2000s before I read up more and looked beyond the gloss. Even Nawaz Sharif is a angel compared to him.good write up..Disagree with Musharraf though..He is the best thing to have happened to Pakistan for a long time...He gace Pakistan economy a serious boost
He did jack for the Pakistani economy. What he did was sold Pakistan cheap and in return got few billions dollars from the Americans which he then injected into the economy giving it a artificial high. But as soon as the money supply from US slowed the artificial bubble just burst.
Nothing tangible was done with the money from USA. Just used to buy political groups and give urban population a good time on cheap credit. Nawaz Sharif at least left behind motorway network. Musharf just left behind Kabul in India's hand, most of FATA burning, Swat ran over by TTP, Karachi given on a platter to MQM goons of Altaf Bhai and NWFP actually pawned to a rag tag religious mob.
And he did not even deliver on one thing he had premised his take over. Turfing out the Sharif's who came back even more charged up.
