President Joe Biden will soon fulfill one of his top foreign policy campaign commitment by stopping U.S. offensive support for the aggressive Saudi Arabia-led military coalition in Yemen, national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on Thursday morning.

“He is going to announce an end to American support for offensive operations in Yemen,” Sullivan confirmed Biden’s decision.

The shift has huge connotations for millions of people in Yemen, where the Saudis and their partners ― specifically the United Arab Emirates ― have killed thousands with American support since the Saudi-led coalition began its intervention in 2015. The riot has brought the already poverty-stricken country to the point of famine, in what the United Nations has called the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

Mr. Biden, who signaled during his campaign that he would take a different perspective to Yemen and the Saudi-led military campaign there from that of the Trump rule, will say in a foreign-policy speech that he is appointing Timothy Lenderking, a career diplomat with great experience in Gulf and Yemen affairs, to be his point person on the conflict, a senior administration official said.

Mbs, is gonna be forced to withdraw from conflict. Humiliation is a near possibility. UAE will lobby Isreal to change US mind.

UAE's F-35s are already in trouble they can't ask for more especially when they backstabbed and left Saudis in Yemen.

All of that Israeli ballsucking for nothing 😂

Saudis have no intention of withdrawing from anything. They are at home! Where are they suppose to withdraw to is the question.

It could only mean that the saudis will cut ties with the US if they persist with this because this is Saudi national security interest.

It will open opportunities for others such as China, Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia etc etc to get jobs and factories out of Yemen war and make money on it. another man's loss is another man's gain

Trump was an anomaly, no other US leader will be accommodating to Saudis like he did in Yemen. You had your fun with Trump, now your dealing with savvy foreign policy experts in whitehouse. Mbs will be sacrificed for KSA and US relations. Both nations benefit from close relationship.

No other country will get involved in Yemen, none of them countries listed will pick sides. Maybe China will sell weapons, but it will also supply weapons to Iran.

I never said they will get involved miltarily but they will all fight over that new vacated position and they will all get a share. There is no need to invite anyone but they will all want share of that pie and it creates jobs. A military conflict is lucrative.

Bye Felicia to the US. The new candidates should get in position quickly I know deep down Pakistan wants this and they even desire a port in Aden post war or bab al-mandab

No sir, not only did it start under Obama's watch, but his unilateral drone assasinations without regard to collateral damage is what emboldened Saudi to take such action.

Pakistan is a small player that has resources only focused on immediate region, India and Afghanistan. Dont hold your breath, no one can replace usa as an ally.

Yes started under obama, but Trump did not care about civilian suffering. This emboldened KSA. No comparison between Obama and Trump. Trump does not even care about US citizens, covid response, riots etc.

You are underrating Pakistan unnecessarily. A country that has the desires of overruning a country 7 times it's size. Will need all the money it can get and get the job done like peanuts and such factories provide jobs. By the way Turkey, China and Indonesia won't pass the opportunity either if the ball was thrown their way we are talking about billions

US support is vital for present Saudi regime they can't imagine to annoy uncle Sam. Probably first step towards restoration of neuclear deal. Under this US administration Saudis look losers.

The US Establishment might still prevail over Biden and make a ‘US national interests’ case to allow the sales to go through.

Remember that even before Trump & the recognition of Israel by the UAE, the UAE was one of only a handful of countries that was not, and is not, a target of US espionage operations.

.
The war in Yemen showed no sign of ending even with US involvement. Perhaps this will push participants to rethink their position there. Perhaps give peace a chance.

Probably true but I don't think UAE is the type to stick their neck out even for Saudi Arabia, that's what I meant by the F-35 statement.

The days of peace are gone with Trump no longer in white house. Biden was rolling tanks on day 1.

It's old wine in new bottle withdraw offensive support but defensive still intact mean Saudia can retaliate in self defense or continue ops in the name of self defense this is mere hogwash nothing more where is khushgi rhetoric?? Feels like all wil work on previous salaries

Yeh I agree that's why they used wording offensive means supply will continue in the name of self defense:-)8-).
