The official name was British India. "British Raj" is what Pakistanis say cuz they want to forget that the name India was ever associated with them.
Either way, it was the land of the British Empire under the British Domain. It wouldn't have made a difference what the British decided to call it. They could have called it "British Neptune" if they wanted to. Even Myanmar was a part of the British Raj but they don't get mentioned that much.
