Engineering major Larsen & Toubro has commissioned and handed over the 360 MW Bheramara Power Plant to the respective authority.

The Bheramara Combined Cycle Power Plant Development project was handed over to North West Power Generation Company Ltd (NWPGCL), a fully-owned subsidiary of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).

The power plant is based in Bheramara of Kushtia district in Bangladesh, which is approximately 250 km from Kolkata, reports, Out Look India.

L&T said its scope of work included design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of the complete power plant on back-to-back turnkey basis for Marubeni Corporation of Japan, with gas turbines, steam turbines and generators from Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Japan.

If we assume a factory machine consumes 1kw of power in average, then how many machines this 360 mW power can operate?

It is, (360 mW x 1000kW x 80% efficiency)/1kW = 288,000. So, a staggering 288,000 people can be directly employed if this power is available to the industries. It means, this production of power in Bheramara will work as an impetus to building many new production factories throughout Kushtia, Bheramara, Pakshi and Pabna region.

These new manufacturing jobs will also cause many other businesses to flourish in this area that will also provide extra jobs to the youth. This is how the employment and the standard of living rise.

In this very site a economic zone is offered for Indian investors.
Also Ishwardi EPZ is located on the opposite bank of river Padma.

The more plants like these come online...the less reliant we will be on rental power plants.

There are a bunch of such plants that will be going online within the next 12-24 months.
