Neelum Jhelum is not a dam and Dasu does not have water storage for irrigation. Moreover Bhasha would extend the life of Terbela by 35 years if built now.

Power generation is a must for Pakistan, so these projects can't be discarded. But creating a dam for purposes of water storage is no easy feat, and it depends on where you will construct it. Sometimes the natural terrain does not offer much. How ever, what should be done is a detail topographical survey of all areas where dams can be built and then decide which ones are the best one. Places like GB, AJK and KPK have huge mountain ranges, gorges and deep river flows and thus we need to map them. We haven't built big dams in a long long period. So anything right now is a win-win situation, especially international donors and agencies willing to shell out money.

What I meant is bhasha dam is a must, not only does it produce same amount of electricity but also provides water storage, flood management and the added advantage of extending terbela's life. If we fail to do so we will be facing dire water shortage very soon and food shortage as a result. So no it's not a win win situation. We need to start building bhasha on priority basis now. Imagine what would happen when we add food and water shortage to the current power and gas shortage.

Nawaz sharif is a capitalist,his privitization policies in the 90,s resulted in a poverty boom in pakistan after which both poverty and corruption have increased,this man has done more damage to Pakistan then ppp and taliban,do you expect me to like him?

While I am a PTI supporter, I'm not posting here on this thread in that capacity. PTI or no PTI we need to build water storage or we will be facing shortage of water and food. We did not pay heed to experts 10-15 years ago when they said we will face extreme power and gas shortage and the result is for all of us to see. Now they are telling us we will face acute water shortage and if we don't do anything we will be in a crisis of epic proportion. So don't go down the usual route of partisan mudslinging on every thread.

If that happens in 2015, it will be built then
if it happens in 2040, it will be built then
