This can be done. Kalyani group mounted the same gun on Humvee as well. it was on display

Cause it's an upgraded Austrian gun.. And yes it's still not ready .. But it's kinda good.. Pak private companies should also be given such chances .. India is doing a good job by giving private companies a chance ..

I am guessing since there was never a private industry to manufacture weapons. There were never a need for such development. The whole privatization which is pretty new for India, brings in a new case where the government can't just give out approval to any and all companies to conduct trials of such weapons, which are much more destructive than say an assault rifle (which there is no private company that makes one). Then there is the case of what will happen if the weapons get into the wrong hand. So I can understand the regulation.

Cmon a 155mm towed artillery falling into the wrong hands is a bit far fetched!

Its the typical Indian bureaucratic "Setup". Allow private companies to manufacture such products, but don't make the necessary changes in the regulation that would permit them to test the weapons, shambles.

It was a 105mm light field gun.

Range of gun is irrelevant of calibre. 52 Cal offers just 2-3Km increment of range due to BB (40 km) shells but reduced KE. Ammo uses is 155mm, same for all. OFB 155/45 cal does 40km+ using BB without compromising KE.
Gun already in production, if winter trials in this month successful, full production of mass quantities will start from September.

Making cutting edge sub without making one in 20 years takes time to set up production line. Great thing is now steel will be indigenous and subs to be made indigenously can use infrastructure gained from Scorpene.

Bottlenecks are over BTW. First scorpene Completed/handed over by 2015 commissioned by 2016.
