IA's top brass and MoD babus have been used to kickbacks from foreign firms since ages...the Bofors scandal being a prime example. Until the arms embargo was put in place, IA conducted tests of the Dhanush, ATAGS and Bharat 52 until failure to kill the projects but all three succeeded and stood their ground, infact exceeding expectations. Only issue was with ATAGS despite having the second highest artillery range of 48km, it weighs 18 tons while the expectation is to bring it under 15tons for the existing support infrastructure to mobilize itWhy is the government dragging its feet in local procurement ?
I believe trials were successful a year back.
The babus dragging their feet or its the IA ?
With the recent arms embargo bringing all these artillery systems under it's umbrella, IA & MoD couldn't ask for kickbacks anymore favoring foreign firms
