What's new

Bhagat Singh was apparently an Athiest

are you basing the whole thing on hair? we are rational people here with healthy skepticism... what will you do if another religion claims the same... you will suddenly demand a slightly higher standard of evidence, right?
yeah human nature is fickle, and inspite of his oft-repeated quote in which he says it will be cowardly to believe in god now that he is condemned to die, its not unthinkable that he changed his mind. But to me it looks suspiciously convenient(to appropriate legacy of a great man, for narrow religious gain).
Well let me put it this way.... i dont see a reason why he would have grown his hair long again. Its not a cultural thing...so this leaves only two possibilities, either he started turning religious towards the end or he did it to identify with his community. A person can be agnostic/atheist yet identify with a particular community....
Personally i dont really care, hence I did not try to find. If you want to find out i am sure there will be plenty of research material delving into his last days.
Harkrishan singh surjeet, the communist leader from punjab, had outwardly appearance of a sikh. Did he believe in god ?

Or he could have used it as a tool to gain power and wealth. An intelligent man doesn't burn his hand when he has fully crafted tool ready for use.

I dont think he gained either wealth or power. What will anyone do with both knowing that he will not live for long.

yeah.. in that sense he might become a sikh.. just like khuswant singh was... yeah I can see that... the conversation described in the link almost certainly did not happen(In which he say sorry I had to remove outward sikh symbol to be with non-religious people, but i have received your divine command and prepared to abide by your wishes)...
anyway, this thread is about him being atheist/marxist, and he remained so... most likely.
