The Bangladesh HC in India takes their orders from the Modi administration hacks on setting Bangladesh export policy to India.

Enough said.

It is the BD politicians in the govt who should take initiative to increase BD exports to India. Unless they do so, the HC office in New Delhi cannot probably pursue any such efforts on trades on its own.

The HC may try, but it will be almost futile. The Trade Minister is now visiting India busy with new border Haats. Note also that India itself is a 3rd world country producing all its garments needs. I personally don't think the BGMEA will get further access to Indian market because India is capable of producing almost all its needs.

By the way, BD still depends on low-value garments. It seems it has no item else to export to India and almost no item to China. It is all because BD is unable to produce technology-based physical goods.

BD is not getting duty free import access to it's rmg exports to India. We ourselves employing millions in this sector plus we have done FTA with UK, Australia,UAE for duty free exports of our textiles products.

I think other than that, India can offer something. BD FTA talks have frozen for a long time since BD is adamant on that issue.

Both are pressing requirements. Absolutely yes.

@bluesky bhai technology goods are slowly being introduced to Indian market. Walton already sold Aircons, Washing machines and Refrigerators in India under OEM name at the behest of the OEM Indian company. There have been higher echelon bikes sold too among other things like batteries. Labor rates for value addition in Bangladesh are lower than that of India.

What we need is assembly facility for technology products in India from Bangladeshi CKD/SKD kits due to tariff structure for now and then strong dealer network for servicing. Walton and other technology companies are already pursuing that strategy with Indian dealer networks, though it may be behind the scenes.

The type of apparel products made and sold in India are lower grade, made for only internal consumption in price-sensitive lower level markets. We are not talking about that market, which also exists in Bangladesh.

If Bangladesh can sell brand-name higher grade and fashionable apparel products in the US, they can also sell it in India. Price will certainly be lower than comparable products produced in India, as Bangladeshi labor rates for apparel are half that of India. These are boutique items sold in India, often for Indian brandnames. I know for a fact that higher grade Bangladesh-made shirts are a staple for Indian market and are quite popular.
