‘Beware bearded terrorists,’ Chinese posters warn

I don't know about China but, in the West, beards are making a comeback in the younger generation.

They are very much an in-thing with the 20-something crowd.

:-) Sure. I blame the hipsters

I support our Chinese brother against terrorism and always admire Israel and Chinese policy against terrorism. We should learn from them.

Nation first and everything else second.

Beards in China are more common on the older generation, if you look around it's not difficult to see old men with long white beards.

Still, the point is that the poster in question didn't say anything to do with beards. That is what Al Arabiya said.

They are joining the bandwagon of "China is evil", which is not a new phenomenon at all.

if this cartoon is true it is extremely insulting!

I hope the Chinese understand that the Western world (puppy india included) wants to drive a wedge between the Muslim world and Chinese

. . .
what does this have to do with camps my friend??
who are talking about human rights violations being committed in china nothing else…
the terrorist camps are being taken out as we speak in this new operation…
however how are tackling terrorists by violating the basic rights of your own citizens who are also chinese???

once again.. israel has nothing to do with this lol….
idk why your taking this personally…
i know already that china doesn't care about what others think so you don't need to tell us that…. there is a reason why chinas image is kinda messed up in the west. otherwise the west would have no reason to talk crap about china..
China's image is not messed up in the West. Gone are the days of poverty stricken China and their second rate products. The West DEPENDS on China now more than anything else :omghaha: Now yes, those who lost business to the Chinese manufacturers won't be too happy now, would they? :D

For your knowledge we don't like western world and you should read Indian article to get the gist of it but saying us Western puppy just shows you have Indianphobia.

Being Muslim doesn't make you Anti-India and talk shit about us ,heck we have the 2nd largest Muslim population. We are against Pakistan terrorism policy not Islam who uses Islam to recruit terrorist to gain political advantage.

Also do not consider us in western camp as we are in Indian camp and will do whatever benefit our nation. We are part of BRICS and that is enough sign for the world to understand which camp we represent.

I don't know how that guy qamar is in America and ranting at China. Surely the deaths of over a million innocent Muslims in the Iraq war alone, funded by American citizens such as himself, is "relatively" worse than restrictions in one province of China?

This account seems to have been hacked. :)

Your responses used to be better.

@Oscar has a point though, out of all the declared "crimes against Muslims" in the world, from conflicts that have casualties in the millions (Iraq) or in the hundreds of thousands (Syria), or anywhere else (I'm sure you can think of some), restrictions in one province of China are hardly much in comparison, it's not like people are on the streets chopping them up.

But it's being made into such a big deal, by the same people who in the same breath will support America against "evil China".

It's pretty insulting, especially when our own citizens are being hit by terrorist attacks and some of these guys will support the terrorists over us.

.
Yes. there is something wrong with you, your "may" and "sound like" is speculation and suggestion that our government support Muslim discrimination. You think by playing with your words and we don't know what you're trying to get at???...LMAO

I don't support racism but I don't support people trying to stir up trouble neither.
What did the designer think when he design these posters? Why did he use the image of beard men as terrorists? You don't think he didn't mean anything by that? And those passing the poster around didn't realize anythings at all, especially there are recent terrorists attacks caused by muslims?

Anyways China did nothing to stop the posters going around, or even at least had a note or a claim that image used in the poster was just coincidence, and did not aim at any specific group of people, like claims you see in videos games or books. I feel a little irritated because of that.

Very much so.

I would hope the Chinese authorities are smart enough to understand the wider issue at play here and make every effort to make it clear -- especially to the Chinese citizens -- that their fight is with extremists, not Islam or Muslims.

The fact that certain elements will try to portray this as China's fight against Islam means the Chinese authorities need to go the extra mile and defuse that perception.

I am sure @qamar1990 is a good chap, but you have and should have the final say on what you decide with respect to your country. You owe no one any explanation. Especially when this is just a silly cartoon and that too interpreted by al Arabiya! :D This is a non issue actually

I am sure there are thousands of cartoons with clean shaven men as villains.

Typically, the beards are not that big but goatees to throat beards are very much in vogue.

Why did the Indian government take issue with the Russians about some Hindu holy book?

It's a purely internal matter for the Russians, no?

Good point  But see the thing is that we can raise the issue but we can do jacksheeet about what Russia ultimately does (or did in this case). :)

Besides, more importantly, no followers of 'some Hindu holy book' (sic) in Russia were involved in any criminal cases, let alone terrorist activities.

And I sometimes keep a beard too...trimmed and all, but still counts :D
