Best of airpower on display at Farnborough


Farnborough International Airshow opened its skies on July 19 for the 47th internationally acclaimed airshow where the latest in technological innovations are on display. With over 1,300 exhibitors from 38 countries, the airshow is the world's largest temporary exhibition covering 247 acres with anticipated attendance of 250,000 visitors from around the globe.

Indian Minister of State for Defence MM Pallam Raju is in Britain to attend the airshow, one of the biggest in the aviation calendar. Indian defence public sector undertaking Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is among the 1,393 exhibitors from 40 countries participating in the biennial airshow that began on Monday.

Pakistan is showcasing, for the first time, the JF-17 fighter that has been co-developed and co-produced by Pakistan Air Force and China Aviation Technology Import and Export Corporation

When the air is nearly saturated with moisture, sometimes the low pressure over the top of the wing causes the moisture to fall out and a "cloud" forms, which we see as a trail. It normally only shows when the flaps are down. Watch for it especially when you are about to climb into low clouds are have just descended through them. When planes bank hard, they are subject to high load factors. All this means is that the wings are producing A LOT of lift. Wings produce lift by creating an area of low pressure on the top of the wing. If pressure drops rapidly, so does temperature. The pressure drops (most notable in hard banks when the wings are producing the most lift), and the temperature drops to below the dewpoint, in essence creating a visible water vapor.

not really, the F-18 is very loved also, specially in the aviation industry for its capabilities. It continues to be one of the best fighters around.
