There are Japanese gamming industry legends like Konami and Shinji Mikami(father of survival horror) that I know of. Japanese game developing is top notch although I do not play games much but still they are in no way inferior to US game developers.

some of my favorite games aren't made by U.S developers.

So all you have to present is one game from a certain genre, and proclaim that the Japanese are far better when compared to Americans. Furthermore the title you choose is clear to show you have no idea about gaming, consoles reduce frame rates to 30Hz, ever played a game at 75 ot 120Hz? I don't think so. Overall big wig publishers such as Activision, EA etc had been producing recycled junk, if E3 is anything to gauge by gaming industry is in decline.
