Then of course movies like "Godfather" (triology) and The Shawshank redemption were always among my favourite movies (don't know why it's missing from the above list).

Why? - oh well all of them were great movies... X-Men didn't lose quality after gaining success in the first part unlike other sequel movies such as Spiderman.
