Best fighter jet movie scene ever..F-18 vs SAM.

.
Nice clip, I must say. Which movie?

. . .
Behind enemy lines...the first one.

Very good movie, classic scene when the F-18 executes a S-turn..........though can anyone identify the SAM that's fired? I mean it is IR seeking.

The USAF F-117 was shot down over Serbia by a modified SA-3 while the F-16 was shot down over Bosnia by a SA-6 Kvdrat. Both use CW semi active radar seekers and were modified to include optical seekers. It was the optical seeker that was supposed to have beaten the F-117 stealth fighter, and the fact that these fighters flew the same route every day and so the Serbs repositioned their radars so that the aircraft flew into their detection envelop. What they used in the movie is anybody's guess.

The scene is entertaining, but factually unsound. The rocket motor of SAM only fires for about 5 to 15 seconds, and the rest is reliant on kinetic momentum to steer towards the target. No way would a missile track the F-18 with its motor on for 2 minutes. In reality, that SAM would have bled off its energy within the first 30 seconds.

I want to ask can a missile or whatever can do such fantastic manuevers shown in film.
How can a fighter then save itself from such missile
