The aircraft I posted (the picture) is an FW 190 and not a Bf 109.

At the end of WW-II US had P-51D, Germans had FW-190, UK had Tempest-II, Japan had Ki-84 but only P-51D arrived to its operators in time and in numbers and that changed everything in WW-II.

The P-51d was the best all around fighter in Europe, that much I will not dispute or will I change my mind... I'm going to be stubborn on this one. The FW-190 was in my opinion the best pure European (given that the P-51's where American in design and production) fighter of the war. The Tempest, the Spitfire, the ME 262, They were good in their own right, but I still like the FW-190 the best. The P-51d changed the war in Europe, but the F-4U owned the sky's over the Pacific.

Its even said by US after testing that if Ki-84 had entered in service earlier and had good quality of production and fuel then it would had been much more difficult for US to defeat Japan in WW-II.

Hard to tell.
Air superiority: Su35/Typhoon.
Multirole: Rafale

Fw-190D and P-51D had similar performance. Ta-152 and P-51H were entering service by the end of the war in Europe.

Rafale is just so sexy. The Typhoon with canards so forward looks like a catfish.

Overpriced for mediocrity. The French also took advantage of the Indians in their recent Rafale deal. $20 Billion for 126?

Not signed yet. Hard to get money out of Baniya :p:

Seriously. The amount of money you guys are paying for those Rafales, you can purchase an F-35IIA. Those are about $100 million a piece.

At $20 Billion for 126 units, the French are charging $158 million a piece for a Rafale. That's absolutely highway robbery, if ever there was one.

who knows why the price keeps ballooning, but at the price the Indians are paying the Typhoon would of been the wiser choice.

Rafale might be more expensive than the F-35 would the deal is finally done.

It already is. The French are charging the Indians $158 million per Rafale. That's ridiculous !

And the Indian Ministry of Defense is agreeing to it?

PS. F-35A-IIs are $100 million per unit. And the price is expected to reduce as production increases.

Indians are worried that the Americans will pull the rug out from under them if they don't tow the line. That's why they didn't go for the F-16 or the superhornet. The Russians were jerking them around on spares and maintenance. So they decided to teach them a lesson. The typhoon had the British and Germans who would follow the U.S. The Gripen has a U.S. turbofan in it. The French were really the last man standing.

And thus they are also taking advantage of India, unfortunately.

Can't blame them. They are not in the charity business. Costs them a lot of money to develop and build manufacturing facilities. India had very high levels of ToT requirements. Plus, they wanted most of them built in India. I honestly doubt US would allow their 5th generation technology to be proliferated like that. If India had allowed private companies to compete and invest in the defense sectors earlier instead of sinking money into public sector enterprises that couldn't come up with a turbofan or a decent fighter in 30 years, they'd have been better off. You pay for your mistakes and they are going to pay through the nose for this one
