Best Bank to use in Pakistan

I wanted to add if the banking system was secure and world class then millions of overseas Pakistanis would send billions to Pakistan banks for savings. The new government says they are requesting people to send money to help the country but in return what do they offer? The local dsp asp and politicians to steal your money. The government needs to make secure environment for the money to come :)

When did you last visit my country Pakistan from your country UK or whatever it is? no one steals your money from banks.Youre depositing your 2000 to 3000 pounds , ppl whom i know are having 100x than this in their personal banking accounts and living happily.Kabhe to acha soch liya karo is mulk kay liye jaha paida huay

. . . . .
I would recommend Standard Chartered Bank. It may be not the best in terms of revenue but it is safe to have an account in terms of privacy.

.
What banks would you guys recommend to use in Pakistan. I am looking to send money to Pakistan.

●The bank has to have brilliant data protection as many people accounts get hijacked and money stolen
●Great customer services because I can't deal with rude staff
●Nice bank building and not some dodgy looking building

What's the best account you would recommend for a foreigner. I will put 5k in the account and use £2000 when I visit. Also I will send money to Pakistan to leave in the account. Will be sending in pounds.

I am not worried about the number of branches because i am sure the local city will have a branch. But account security is my top concern. Also the convenience and customer service.

Will a business account be more secure than a current account. I tend to avoid the saving account with interest

Thanks in advance guys
standard chartered

O bhaio kis decade mei rehtey ho?
ABN Amro bank to marhoom ho gaya kab ka. I mean closed for years now
It did close like being default...Globally RBS, Royal bank of Scotland bought ABN AMRO. In Pakistan his operation was taken over by Faisal Bank.

. . .
It's too bad PayPal isn't in Pakistan yet

I use UBL.

I had a problem once but found "Banking Mohtasib Pakistan" a great service, they put pressure on the bank on my behalf and made sure my issue was sorted out. It's a government organisation, keep that in mind when banking in Pakistan.

He's just asking for information. Do you know how hard it is to sort problems out sitting 3,000 miles away? It's not easy, it's better to take some time and research to get the best service possible.

The government needs to make secure environment for the money to come :)

There is no need for us to reform our economy when British and American tax payers keep bailing us out. We are on the verge of yet another IMF bailout. Why do you people keep giving us money?!

. .
And BTW to answer your questions :

  • There is no secrecy when it comes to banking data in Pakistan.
  • Accounts not operated for a year go dormant which means the money gets sent to the central bank. To make the account active again you have to deposit money into it. You may have to do this in-person.
  • The banks make bank by borrowing money for free from current account holders and lending it risk free to the government. They do not do the job of lending to businesses which is necessary for a healthy economy. Why do you want to help them by opening a current account instead of a savings account???
  • The government has frozen foreign currency accounts in the past. The most recent freezing was just a few months ago when they prevented tax non-filers from operating their accounts to the full extent possible.
  • Business account or personal account makes no difference security wise.
  • The appearance of the bank building has absolutely nothing to do with the security of your money. In Pakistan people believe that it is government owned banks that are the most secure because of the implicit government guarantee on their obligations (the money they are borrowing from you). These also tend to have the shoddiest buildings and the most rude staff!
