What's new

Beijing's life expectancy rises to 82.15 years

Congratulation..... But I personally thing a person must die before 70 to save the resource for young.

The bad effect of smog on health is about 2-3 years of life, so there is potential to improve further.
In 10-15 years the problem with smog will be greatly reduced in China I believe.
it has improved Since I was there in 200l. I didn't need to wear a mask this time

The old should he allowed to live as long as possible since they contributed to society already. (hope in 20 years time the, average age should increase to 100.

I really hate people smoking in public, we have a ban on public smoking in Beijing but smokers just smoke in public places anyway, there's zero enforcement in this ban.

My father is reaching to 86, mother is to 81, both are still doing miles of walking every day in Beijing. I think healthy life style matters most here.

People smoking in public is the most hated thing for me . The situation is getting better in big cities from my visits but remaims little improved in smaller ones

Same here. Anytime I visit universities in Mainland for conference or stuff like that, I see some officials themselves violating smoking laws/signs inside the offices, restrooms, and even cafeterias. This makes me so angry and I like to approach those senior profs and rebuke them, but then, I know it will look pretty bad if a relatively junior researcher lectures them publicly. I just stop.

The enforcement should start from official places/buildings (hospitals, unis, police stations, entrance exit administrations, etc) and then step by step spread into open public areas such as parks.

What kind of evil communist dictatorship lifts poverty and improve the lives of its people to the point where life expectancy rises year on year.

Must be fake news. Communism cannot be good.
