There is nothing special about the SCS that is unique and does not occurs anywhere else. If anything, the SCS as a region of the Pacific is quite ordinary. The USN have far more experience in navigating the SCS than the PLAN. We have been there since the end of WW II while your PLAN's excursions in the SCS have been recent. Why do you think the PLAN have been labeled as a 'brown water' navy all these DECADES? Further, as far as combat experience goes, the PLAN have NONE while the USN -- as a modern navy -- have DECADES of war logs.

USN trying to fight PLAN in SCS is seeking is own doom. Those USN warships all will be within range of ASBM. China has land and sea support. Even US bases nearby will be threatened by missile too. Missile flies 2000miles range and speed of 10 mach while your USN planes flie 0.9 mach cruising speed and has combat radius of only 800 miles. I dont think we need to do the maths here. PLAN will win badly over USN.
