Beijing Olympics 2022: Discussion and Update

. . .
So you just fan the fire since the fire is already there, don't you? Good job, I have to say.

This a is forum where people express their opinion. I'm not sure who you are flattering to think what anyone does here would fan any flame.

Ask the mod. I merely point out that you guys are just satisfying your own ego in her name but at her expense unless she asks you to do it.

. .
I think you're just projecting your own fear on others.
It is called empathy, which may be alien to you. You certainly don't fear for her. Whatever she gets has zero impact on you whatsoever. So, go ahead, flame it.

You must love Gu very much and are so eager to enrage Americans towards her. She is coming back to the US soon. I hope your wish is eventually granted when she encounters a huge wave of negativity after she lands.

Gu ailing will become an example. All Chinese Americans will see Gu Ailing's high income and success after changing nationality. In recent days alone, she has received 27 business contracts and $40 million in revenue. What's more absurd is that most of these contracts come from American companies eager to enter the Chinese market. Moreover, Gu Ailing's success will lead to more and more racial violence in USA.
That's why I said, you'd better not cheer for the medals of Chinese American athletes too early. Maybe a few years later, their nationality will also change.

BTW: Americans have no right to blame Gu ailing. How many immigrants from other countries are there in the United States? How many of these immigrants left their original country for money and career? Gu Ailing is of Chinese descent. Isn't it right for her to return to China?

@nang2
These Americans don't understand why the Chinese pursue an athlete like Gu ailing rather than more valuable scientists such as Zhu Songchun. I can understand that they don't understand, but you are an overseas Chinese, don't you understand? Don't you know "抛砖引玉" and "千金市骨" of Sun Tzu's art of war?

Empathy is what led many expressing concerns for her safety. Your concern is how not to offend the fanatics. Unfortunately her achievements alone instead of what we here say or may not say is more than enough to trigger these people.

Eileen Gu’s life is in danger from American ultra nationalist white supremacists like @F-22Raptor

It is very important that she never step foot on America ever again. America is more dangerous than any other Western country.

Lol, 4 years ago I was an Indian, and now I'm a white supremacist? Just because I call Gu and her mother out for what they are doesn't make me a white supremacist. As I said earlier, both Nathan Chen and Chloe Kim are proud Asian Americans and I couldn't be happier for their success.

I have no idea how much danger Gu would be in when in US.

But Gu did nothing wrong.

America speak as though they own her. She is half Chinese and has the right to choose. I find this contrary to my impression of the values that America has tout to stand for.

If she is in danger, it is not the fault of Gu or anybody else. It is the fault of those people that did wrong.

It is also the responsibility of US gov't to prevent such things. And US society should be the one that do the reflection why this happen.

I fear for Gu’s life looking at the unhinged behaviour of American ultra nationalists.

Winning a gold medal doesn’t protect you from anti-Asian hate crimes. Just ask Sunisa Lee

Oh boy. The problem is Asians and their perpetual fragile society mentality project their fears into other societies. Nothing is going to happen. Yes, I'm sure if things were reversed crazy stuff would happen in China but this is not a big deal here.

Chinese PDF members were absolutely positive a civil war would break out ( ala Tiananmen square 2.0) if Trump lost...while the Americans here thought that was absolutely ridiculous talk.

Guess what...nothing happened.

The Chinese Government does their best to coddle you guys from fear because if anything really negative happens you are all going to completely freak out.

I don't think she will be that great of an example.

She is a very unique person. A one in a million person. She has it all. She is mixed race, looks like a supermodel. Is the world's greatest female freestyle skier. Has an extremely high IQ. Speaks Chinese and English fluently.

Most people can't and won't be able to reach her standards. She is very elite and that is why she is so successful. I doubt someone like Nathan Chen would be as successful as her if he defects to China. Let's be honest, a large part of her appeal is that she is a beautiful White passing mixed race Chinese woman who speaks Chinese fluently, so she is a huge novelty. A 100% full blooded Chinese American would probably be more exposed to intense criticism since many Asians still have a huge degree of self hate and a big inferiority complex to Caucasians.
