True, best haleem is served by the shia mohajirs in Karachi and Hyderabad. Ask anyone and they will agree.

But in Punjab they have dishes that are localised with different names and slightly modified recipe. There's Daleem in Punjab and something called Harissa. Both look like haleem but taste different.

Sir my opinion is based on discussions with punjabi friends but mostly on youtube video's by punjabi vloggers. They often use the word Daleem instead of Haleem.

Agree , this might be unethical or against hygienic eating , but haram part make me confused .. maybe some Muslim council in South Africa declared it haram (for local)..

From what I understand, the limitation on the age of an animal is for ritual sacrifice, rather than on consumption for oneself.

@denel do you have a link to the fatwa of the org you stated have declared veal haram? I'd be interested in reading about their perspective.

i will reach out to my friend shaikh essak at MJC for this. It is not about haram; may be I am mistating the term; they said it is not halal to slaughter anything that is infant or young age or drinking milk; for cows it is 2 yrs here. All my moslem friends who come to slaughter at my farm know this rule well and i keep records for birth for each tagged animal to show them.

MJC rules are very strict here for halal meat slaughtering. person performing the slaughter must be a person of faith, must pray daily etc. even the animal position must be to a certain direction.

Its served in eateries and is made all over the country

True, you can get all our national dishes all over Pakistan. But certain communities specialise in certain dishes and haleem and nehari belongs to mohajirs. Bohri biryani, dahi vada and chevda belongs to memon community, lahori charga to punjabi and dumpukht to pakhtoon community etc.

I am not doubting you, you asked me a question hence I replied.
I am from Karachi and I call it haleem. All I am saying is that some people refer to it as daleem and provided youtube channels with good number of followers.
