What's new

Beef consumption per person. (pounds per year).

No meat is good at all. I have to get my meat from the local butcher here but my family in Pakistan gets the meat supply from our own farm throughout the year. It's all healthy meat. :agree:

Ask the mrs to use chicken thigh only instead of whole chicken and taste the difference.

I get spring lambs in the season, they taste marvelous. And no fat, it is removed.
That fresh meat reminded of my "Masi" "Khala", Allah give her Jannah, She lived in "Chichawatni" I only had twice the chance to visit her in my young age. She had farms down the "Chak", everything in her house was "home grown" including the Lambs, chicken and most of veg and spices. The food at her home was just heavenly, with a large long glass of "lasi". You just sleep whole day after having a large glass of it.

Home grown food is the best. What you see is what you get. Unfortunately not everyone has the luxury of owning a farm hence they have to rely on retail. Our farm has been in the family for over three decades and we have been able to extend it over the years to become self sufficient in meat and dairy supply. Only fish is bought from the market.

.
Previously like most of households we used to consume more Chicken than Beef but that have all changed in last 4 5 years. Have always been a foodie and love to eat beef and mutton. Chicken is also not a big NO NO but beef/mutton ratio have increased considerable.

.
Maybe not kosher in some cooking but def halal...kosher laws are much more stricter and limit the food than halal..that is why we are allowed kosher but not every Jew would agree with Halal
No incorrect, any calve that is still drinking milk is forbidden in shariah. Here Muslim Judicial council has strict laws in South Africa and they follow the exact writings and no veal is available.

I am shocked that you are tending to like veal; look at the meat it is whitish because it is still drinking milk.

Don't know about halal or Haram but it's immoral to kill calves for food
absolutely haram. people want to flex for sake of flexing the rules.
anyway their choice.

Mouton has such a strong and specific taste compared to veal. How could you not tell? :meeting:

Hein? :o:o_O
Who told you that?? :what:

Please read the texts on what the age of the animal should be; if still drinking milk it is not permitted; gosh man, our Muslim Judicial Council in Cape Town is more stricter; they regulate the rules in our country.

beef consumption is related to people standard of living in real........no matter what some shitty ranking says about HDI.

I think there is a certain age it is advisable not to eat...But Arabs still have Lambs which are also drinking milk mind you :)

I am not sure about the details of the rulings...I am reading it but so far it has not been categorized as haram!

It is pale

I got this from 1 website: As long as the slaughtering has been performed according to Islamic conditions, then there is no problem with eating veal. The calf being too young or being confined in a cage does not make it haraam to slaughter and eat.

Inhumane maybe ...but not haram

As for the hadith (after Quran we look at the hadith):

Al-Bukhaari (4101) and Muslim (2039) narrated that Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, come with me to my house. Then I said to my wife: I have seen something (i.e. hunger) in face of the Prophet (sa) that caused me concern; do you have anything? She said: I have some barley and a kid (young goat). So she slaughtered the kid and made dough with the barley, and we put the meat in the pot. Then I went to the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) … And he narrated the hadeeth, in which the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and his Companions ate from that kid (young goat).

According to the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah, when the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) visited Abu’l-Haytham, along with Abu Bakr, and ‘Umar, Abu’l-Haytham went to make some food for them. The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Do not slaughter any animal that is producing milk. He said: So he slaughtered a kid (young goat) or lamb for them and brought it to them, and they ate.

True, if its still drinking milk it should not be slaughtered. Calves are usially older than a year and a half and their meat is pinkish, not white.

In past people in Punjab used to slaughter male buffalo calves at the day of their birth
only those selected for breeding purpose were not salueghtered

Unfortunately arabs are not the golden standard to go with for halal or haram. they dont care and will even eat pork.

In past people in Punjab used to slaughter male buffalo calves at the day of their birth
only those selected for breeding purpose were not salueghtered
That is purely haram. it is incomprehensible that it was being done.

Ok lets not go around saying blanket statements and then crying when there is a hard reply! NEVER state blanket statements like this about any national! It is really against the forum rules!

And no I am not looking JUST looking at Arabs...You cant prove anything and your only come back is Arab is bad? wow!

I gave you hadith which also have ARABS in them (which you interestingly ignored)

That is purely haram. it is incomprehensible that it was being done.
It is not haram...Please distant your Kosher from Halal and Haram! In Islam we are allowed to have even a 1 day old calf/ lamb! (there are hadith for it)

True, if its still drinking milk it should not be slaughtered. Calves are usially older than a year and a half and their meat is pinkish, not white.
Well, unfortunately we are allowed to slaughter them, not the mother but the calf (there is no ruling) and in the past it has been done by Sahaba...Please dont modify Islam to please others!

This is common practice only PETA goes nuts ...but those who are poor or need to feed their guests, would do so!

It is not advisable but def not haram!

Please read the texts on what the age of the animal should be
There is no proper text from the Prophet!

The "text" do exist due to certain conditions and through scholars due to situation not from the Prophet!

Stop making anything and everything YOU deem as Haram as Haram for us! Like I said, Kosher laws are more strict and maybe just maybe some people in where you live might have adapted those into Shariah....it is common to have diffusion of some laws from 1 religion to another...But those are rarely going as far as HARAM/ HALAL and most stop at Mukhrho!

If I hear you calling anything you dont know or from your narrowed prospective as Haram or Halal....I assure you a warning will be issued. Because as of yet, you have only stated haram this and that like a Mullah without any backing / support/ evidence!

Not to feed their guests but male calves were considered useless that's why

Stop threatening me on such small issue.
If this is the level you are stooping to; the moderator title needs to be questioned.
