Lol, i am a Sindhi, so we don't really have a state in India!! Well i have never seen any sindhi culture anyways, as most of out community has stuck to cities and lost our culture.
:-(

Well i am from mumbai, studied in Pune (again Maharashtra), so i am more marathi then any Maharashtrian you can find. lol
We chose to just mix wherever we settled i guess.!!

Trust me friend. It is only a matter of time before you have your own state. If you do not know, please do not ask me how?;);)

After seening pictures of Khajuraho temples I wounder why painter MF Hussain was criticized in India :hitwall:

About the M.F. Hussain incident, he painted debatable paintings of "Bharat Mata". Now as you must know, we Indians consider our country as our mother, and no child will accept debatable paintings of their mother. He shouldn't have done that IMO. I am quite liberal, but I wouldn't accept that.

In earlier ties, i.e. from nearly 500 B.C. to 1200 A.D., the culture of Indian sub-continent was extremely liberal(as compared to today), and quite good emphasis was given to scientific approach. Great scientists like Aryabhata, Bhaskra, Susruta, Jayadeva, Pingala, etc., gloomed in that period due to the emphasis given to science.

Apart from that women were treated far better and equally to men. Many Kings had a seat for their mother, placed above their own. Also wives could be present in courtrooms, and had a say in the decisions.

Also Sex was not considered as a Taboo. The biggest fact to support this is the book "Kamasutra". Many people, by ignorance think that "Kamasutra" is a book on sex positions, which in fact its not. It's a text about human behaviour which tells a person about the different types of women, how they should be approached, how to flirt with them(even with the ones already married), how to treat your wife with love, and many other things.

This shows the openness of the earlier society. But unfortunately this has changed now, due to influence of some outside cultures, and Indian society is not as liberal as it used to be.

I googled hyderabadi, and that pic showed up.. I don't remember the exact keywords I used. Are they Bengalis then?

I will edit that post and change Hyderabadi to Bengali... :D

Do not bother dear. Indians can identify the slightest mistake about its people and places. You keep on posting, we will suggest corrections if needed.:D:D

Specifically, which outside cultures you are talking about ?

Can you elaborate on that statement please... I didn't get it. Thanks

Let me help you. Long long ago India had started a terrorist organisation in the name of jiaye Sindh to separate Sindh from Pakistan. The Bharatis got a hard kick and the terrorist movement died down.
