BD’s economic growth hits record 8.15pc in FY19, PCI reaches $1909 overtaking India’s PCI $1785

If BNP was in power for 10 years and if all BAL morons was in jail Bd will achive lot more as well. Current economic growth is all because of normal bd ppl nothing to with BAL. All BAL is doing making it worse.
No BNP never contributed towards the economic growth, never. They were always interested in developing the armed forces which BAL unfortunately did not have.

Listen during BNP's tenure, the armed forces sees the most development. I guess it has to do with the legacy of General Zia Ur Rahman, the ex president of Bangladesh.

However during BAL rule, Bangladesh have always seen a steady economic growth but they never seem to listen to the grievances of the armed forces.

So yeah two parties have two different interests.

You aware that when BNP came into power in 2001, they cancelled the order for 8 more Migs that had been ordered and the option for 16 more? In fact AL wanted 27 F-16s but the USA said no in the late 1990s.
Also BNP wanted to get rid of the single Ulsan class frigate and tried to sell off the 8 already brought Mig-29s.

Bd regardless of which political party will need to speed up defence capabilities. Storm is coming our way we need to get prepared.

I don't really trust our current Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed. I don't find him suitable for the post of an army chief and I don't think he is someone who can be relied on.

Marijuana (meaning CBD oil) is a lot less harmful to health (clinically proven) in the longer term. Same thing for Yaba is anybody's guess and wouldn't bet my life on it.
I wasn’t talking about cannabinoids low in THC
As for yaba, it’s a cocktail of methamphetamine and caffeine

Not really a big deal - this kind of corruption even happens in developed countries but on a lesser scale.

We should not look for issues when they are very minor - BD debt to gdp ratio is by far the lowest in the subcontinent.
Bold part: What kind of logic you are putting here? Tell us one BD-level scandal in all countries together from the developed world. Better you read a few newspapers of the developed world to know the reality. Some countries are developed because they have wiped away corruption. And it is no logic that some other countries have corruption, therefore, BD must also have corruption.

Corruption eats up the economic vitality of a nation.

I do appreciate the fact that being "a nuclear capable state have capability to vapourize any state" is a powerful capability, but without the basis of a strong economy that capability is temporary. The point is not to do one-shot activity like shooting off a few scud missiles like the Iraqis did (although nuclear deterrence has its merits). The point is having the capability to sustain longer term wars (and against larger enemies who have that capability). Let's not take this discussion off topic though.
First of all no one in this world have the courage or balls to open a full war front with a nuclear state.
Second,our issues of economy will be entirely solved when CPEC will become functional.But in BD, you don't have an air force.A single US aircraft carrier has more fire power than your whole air.It also has more fighter jets than your entire Air Force.And these jets include stealth fighters likeF-35 lightning II and multi-role fighters F/A-18 super hornet not few old 3rd gen
F-7 and not less than 10 mig-29s.
And as far growth is concerned, you're population is growing at that fast level that in next 10-15 years you have left no space in your country to accommodate these people.

So - in this thread, we're discussing economic growth and parity, not parity in numbers of nuclear warheads. Defense spending helps only one group of people in Pakistan, those in the military. What about the rest of the Pakistanis? Here are those factors,

02_02_2017_011_001_003.jpg

These (shown above) are the costs that Pakistan's people had to pay for military readiness. Numbers above are current as of 2015, difference now in 2019 is even more stark, especially in population growth, total fertility rate and per capita GDP. Look at this headline,

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...census-disaster-poverty-million-a7938816.html

Current average total fertility rate for Bangladesh is around 2.0 while that of Pakistan is 3.6. In village areas Pakistan's TFR is twice that of Bangladesh. At this rate and without birth control, Pakistan's population growth issue is a time-bomb that Pakistan will have a hard time handling in the next couple of decades.

Whether in health or education related measurable HDI's - Pakistan has fallen behind most countries in South Asia.

These are not pleasant topics to discuss - but your enemies won't point out your issues, only those who care about you will... Just having an elite and an upper middle class connected to the military will not save Qaum, you need a robust base of a semi-educated working class populace and invest in industrial infra now to give these people a consistent livelihood to sustain them. These low income folks (and their consistent income and well being) hold up the rest of society. It is true that Pakistan boasts lower number of poor, but that should not be a solace in the long term.

Instead of another rant about having F-16's, Thunder fighters and nuclear warheads (which will rarely, if ever be used, if diplomacy resolves issues), Pakistan is seriously falling behind as a country on social and HDI counts because of Pakistan's military spending that is inconsistent with its economic situation. These are not my words, but words coming from Pakistani intellectuals. Their words are simply not anti-military and they are not enemies of the state in Pakistan. Current situation is not sustainable.

Putting all Pakistan's eggs in the CPEC basket is seemingly great, but should it be the only one - what if the effects of CPEC are not as magnanimous as they have been hyped up to? How come we don't have CPEC in Bangladesh and growth is still happening? I can definitely tell you what we have done RIGHT so far...and what we avoided.

India is an economic GIANT but a social PYGMY compared to Bangladesh. Pakistan is not even in the picture. How did this happen?

India, China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh gained independence around the same time. Until 1960 all four countries had almost identical per capita income.

Today China is an economic miracle with impressive human development indicators (HDI). Bangladesh is an economic pygmy but outshines even China on improvements in a few social parameters.

India's record is mixed. Sri Lanka, meantime, is not only ahead of its South Asian neighbors by miles -it ranks 73 compared to India's 130 on the HD Index -it's better placed than even China (which is at 90).

Pakistan, at 147, is the laggard in this pack.

These are things to think about brother....

Lets compare Population Density per sqmi
Pakistan=215
China=142
India=386
And surprisingly
Bangladesh=1146
i.e 5.3 times more population density than Pakistan,India and even China.
Source,
https://www.infoplease.com/world/population-statistics/population-density-square-mile-countries

It also means that When the Pakistan population is increased 500%,in current state as increase of 2% per anum it needs 250 years,then it can be compare able to Bangladesh population crisis situation.
Where the people of BD goes after 10-15 years? Myanmar? Or eat each other?
As CPEC,China is investing billions in it and The people who considers Chinese foolish are foolish themselves.
In health and weath Pakistan has same condition as that of BD.
The costs of military and nukes has to be paid by Pakistanis but it is a way better than to live on the mercy of hindus like Bangladeshis.
It is very bad situation for BD that a single aircraft carrier is more than enough for its whole military and Air Force.

Dude......

Singapore has 8000 people per sq km. That is nearly 8 times more than BD - btw your figures should be sq km rather than square mile. Of course BD cannot really get to this density as it cannot import the required food and water like Singapore does but it gives you an idea just how much space there is still left in BD.

BD is moving towards most people living in flats in towns and cities in order to be able to preserve enough farmland to feed the population. Also the fertility rate has hit 2.0 per woman, below replacing of 2.1, and this means that the population will reach 200 million by 2030 and then start a slow decline.

The land available can and is being made more productive by using more advanced farming methods. The government spends a lot of money every year in this sector.

As for the military, BD finally has a good economy and just by keeping it's defence spending as same percentage of GDP, it can and will be able to afford a lot of high tech gear to deal with Myanmar and India.

You do not present your argument based on relevant facts.

It is true Bangladesh settlement pattern is dense, but so are a lot of other places in Asia.

Such patterns of population density is dictated by fertility of land. Such patterns will not be found in agriculturally barren areas such as deserts. Pakistan and India has larger barren areas. Bangladesh doesn't. Every inch of land is more or less under cultivation, and fertility/crop efficiency is pretty much legendary.

Visit Bangladesh sometime and you can see.
