BD get 8 rating points after win against England

Bangladesh earned eight rating points by virtue of maiden victory against major Test playing nation England by 108 runs on Sunday, reports UNB.

With this latest collection, Bangladesh raised their rating points to 65, just two points behind eighth-ranked West Indies.

Playing 1-1 draw in the two-match Test series, fourth-ranked England lost three points from 108. In the 1st Test, Bangladesh conceded a narrow 22-run defeat in a thrilling climax from winning position.

Despite these ups and downs of rating points, both the sides maintained their previous places in the ranking list.

Bangladesh defeated England in their 10th meeting since 2003.

Bangladesh are now within touching distance of the eighth spot in Tests after their phenomenal first win over England helped them square the two-match series.

The Tigers needed only three days to rip the English Lions apart for a momentous 108-run win on Sunday and tie the series 1-1 after England had eked out a 22-run win in the Chittagong Test last week.

The historic result earned Mushfiqur Rahim and Co eight points. They now have 65 points, just two shy of the eighth-placed West Indies.

The Caribbean team have lost their first two Tests in the series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates. Another defeat in the ongoing last Test will see them drop a point and leave Bangladesh breathing on their necks.

Bangladesh will get the opportunity to overtake Jason Holder and his men in January on their tour of New Zealand.

England, who were level with third-placed Australia on 108 points but behind in fractions before the series, retained fourth spot but dropped three points. They now have 105.

India lead the rankings with 115 points with Pakistan second with 111, according to a news agency.

Indians should just remember the day when they were defeated in Australia by the BD team and as a consequence were forced to cry and pack back to home. That world cup was not many years ago.

All i saw in the last BD-India encounter in world cup in Australia (2015) was BD fans acting like a bunch of whiney girls about the umpiring and all the wonderful conspiracies concocted ( also explains why they betray their political unions at the drop of a hat - an inherently blame game set of people with severe inferiority complex).

Biggest win wasn't the actual victory...but that England toured and Cook felt Bangladesh was completely safe and said others should tour.

Our record is so poor and financially we aren't a big deal, so teams don't want to play Bangladesh.

But, we've got 11 tests coming up starting with a tour of NZ in December(greentops there will destroy us...we'll get our butts kicked).

Hope it changes with time. Chicken and the egg problem. To get better you need more games and experience (to develop consistency)...but you only get more games if you are experienced and "better" to begin with. I feel its a big part of the reason keeping BD from achieving its potential in cricket more quickly.

11 tests? In what timeframe? Thats welcome news.

Don't worry about getting butts kicked, you just need all this cricket and more. I will support BD whenever its underdog (against firangi/gora team or Pakistan) and then regret it when some BD troll here says something stupid

What world cup are you talking about? The one we lost to BD was hosted by west indies in like 2007, not Australia. Get your Cricket facts correct NOOB. Besides Sehwag took revenge for it all by himself in the middle of Dhaka the very next World Cup. Such a fun thing to see hehe.
