BBC News - Who loses out in the US-China trade war?

. .
Once consumption takes over as the engine of economic growth, then, dependency on overseas markets is reduced.

That should be true in theory but I feel like it is almost impossible for any major economy to insulate itself from an economic crash in the US.

Even if we go the Huawei route of completely ignoring the US market there will still be a big impact as demand falls in the rest of the world.

The only major country that has escaped global recessions of the past seems to be Australia, because they have a colossal amount of natural resources and a relatively small population. It's not really a suitable model for other countries.

I agree. Everybody, big and small, will likely suffer, if not have already started feeling downward pressure.

Global trade in general is under pressure, as chiefs from major institutions keep warning.
