I will say this as neutraly as is possible, China's foriegn image has taken a hit.
War was never an eventuality, yet by brandishing the threat of war through state media sources so many times, and then by 'disengaging', the emptiness of the threats was for all to see.

It doesn't matter what PDF members think, internationally when China get pitted against the Yanks and their pacific alliance, showing chinks in the armor (no pun intended) can cede precious diplomatic ground.
Had China actually score some kind of a diplomatic victory against India, I am sure the state media would have at least maintained it's momentum in terms of showcasing India's humiliation

A: China has said clearly that all the trespassing personnel and equipment of India have been withdrawn to the Indian side of the border, and The Chinese border troops continue with their patrols and stationing in the Dong Lang area. China has long been carrying out infrastructure building, including roads, in the Dong Lang area to meet the needs of guarding the border and to improve the living and working conditions of the troops stationed there and people living there. What I can see here is China is giving some face to Modi for his visit in September and after winter, and less media attention on India, they will restart.

Chinese can claim anything...the point is there is no road which was India;s main objection. We will see next time if this happens again.

According to a neutral source the exercise in the India ocean threatened incursion into India from the Southern border and Indians started wetting their pants as China was ready to repeat 1962 and India's rear side was to become the point engagement and not the north as Indians intended.
