Battle Report #1 :Battle of kalka River 1223

@jhungary

if I remember correctly,you covered several less known but tactically important battles few months ago(after sparring with one chinese member I guess..LOL).what happened??I think last one was some battle of Falklands War.

my request,restart the series,as we're starving here for some "Real Battle" threads,not "Rape and Economy" threads.
hell,even I was planning to post similar kind of threads(where less number of soldiers won a decisive battle against an opponent with overwhelming numerical or qualitative superiority).but my other jobs are interfering that work.

Finally i had some time to read your account (Having been studying up about misiltiary for the whole months........)

Indeed the mongol have a more advanced teactics and they understand the battlefield better than the Russian. The feign retreat by Mongol were actually fighting withdrawal which lead to the bigger field opening and thus creating a "Bottleneck" effect backing with the rivier. When the clearing is there, they basically set up a 3 side ambush to "Cover-The-Lid" as to say

Also the rearguard action bought on by the Mongol make sure the main body of the column will reach the clearing and have enough time to set up an ambush.

The Russia never even saw that coming.

For the russian, the lack of battle discipine, they do not really know where they stand at the goal and the moment they decided to chase the enemy, they spelled their own doom.

With the bottleneck, Russia were simply waiting to be slaughter.

As far as my opinion goes, battle discipline is the major contribution why the Kiev lose the battle.

wish i could give out positive ratings.:(
