Battle of Umberkhind

@meghdut If you are interned in Psyops, the one most experts were the Ismaili Shias and the way they scared mighty Saladin Ayubi ... it's one of the most fascination episodes in history where a small sec defeated the might warrior without even going in battle
I’m not particularly interested in psyops, but if you refer any material I can surely look into it. My interest is general military history of certain periods. Lack of material in Indian military history is what I lament. So it would be great if you point out any good material regarding it, provided it gives a balanced view. I’ll look forward to it.

Dude how many Indian know his name and some time i literally hate Rajputs for their Mughal service...we are worst enemies of ourselves and believe me no one knows about Ahoms , Cholas , Pandyas even Marathas.

Peshwa Baji rao become popular due to the movie other wise no one knows he won 40 battles undefeated and was if not the best then one of the best cavalry commander born In India .

The way Raja Suhel dev defeated the Afghans no one even in India knows about it .... a Mecca born education minister taught us that Shivaji was a mountain rat ... shame on us

Also remind him who was the Mughal commander defeated by Lachit Barphukan.

What @Crixus pinpointed is clearly mentioned above: it was the best possible use of intelligence, terrain and opponent weakness.

It was not about our defeats - unless you are an Uzbek, I don't see how it was a defeat - nor was it about others, and their failure, in your eyes, to accept defeat.

How did you manage to drag in such irrelevancies into this thread? And why are you trying so desperately to divert the thread into another Hindu-Muslim wrangle?
I was just replying to the person who questioned my ancestors (I myself being Maratha) bravery calling it a fluke.. I believe you are among most knowledgeable members here on forum, battle of Panipat had Gardi's fought alongside Marathas and attained martyrdom.. Where is Hindu-Muslim wrangle??

Umm things were different at that time dude. There was no unifying pan Indian identity then, unlike present. Each kingdom looked after its own welfare at other’s expense. So it was what it was. We may not like it ,but well, that’s history.
You should make more posts regarding each battles you find interesting. It would be a good change to the usual forum blabber.

If someone did that, he is an idiot. Can you point me at it? I have issues with that statement. If I had been in your place, I would have been annoyed too.

battle of Panipat had Gardi's fought alongside Marathas and attained martyrdom.

Yes, that is perfectly true, he (Ibrahim Gardi) was tortured and killed in a particularly brutal way. But I still don't get it. Your answer was provocative. Can we discuss it to understand what you were trying to say?

A battle between Hindus and Muslims and no one talks about the religion of either parties?

To begin with, it was not between Hindus and Muslims. You are going by the names of the two commanders to assume that the whole formation they commanded followed their rituals.

You couldn't be more wrong.

The Mughals were co-led by RaiBaghan a Deshmukh appointed by Aurangzeb

And you say that people should ignore the main force and motivation behind their respective culture?

This is called reductionist; their respective cultures were not exclusivist. Both sides had various cultures and religions relating to the soldiers fighting within their ranks. It was not Hindus fighting Muslims; it was a petty nobleman intent on carving out his own principality out of his lord's holdings.

Dear Joe,
Post number 10 was making it Hindu VS Muslims..
My point is, every person who has fallen for this dear mother land, be it of any religion, caste or creed, has to be respected. OP has never mentioned about Hindu or Muslims. Gardis when joined Marathas, even some of the Maratha from Peshwa family opposed. But it was Bhau who had faith in Gardis and they proved its worth by spending last drop of their blood in the battle of Panipat.
I was making point to the person who had made the comment and I quote;
"Problem is these sanghis will never talk about defeats of hindus.
a memory loss happens to them when they think of winning of Muslims against hindus
."
Unquote.
That's why I replied, we don't forget our fallen.. be it from any religion, caste or creed. We don't forget the defeats and those who have laid their life for protecting this society.

I am sorry, but post #10 was just crap; it deserved no time, no attention.

So far I am in full agreement.

I still don't get it. Are you a sanghi?
