I am sure this debate is going to be more exciting in coming days but let nationalistic view shall prevail eternally over a devil disguised as unbiased intellectually honest journalist....
It depends on what you define as 'nationalist' view. There is a bare-faced attempt by religious right-wingers who inherit the contemptible neutrality of their intellectual ancestors during the freedom struggle to now represent themselves as nationalists, when they are nothing but Hindu bigots bent on dividing the country. They are not 'nationalist', they are anti-national. And Arnab and his brand of McCarthyism is not nationalism either.
I wish the negative rating had similar rules as well.... Lol
What I have come to consider as best practice, partly based on feedback criticising some of my ratings, is that it is best not given during a conversation in which one is involved. I have now started reporting all comments directed at me, and not rating that post.
It is to be given on some grossly outrageous comment, either an insult to a country, a race or a religion, or a caste, or a gender or any other group of humans in general, or an insult to an individual not a member of the forum which goes beyond criticism of policies or views to a personal level. I have in the past also given it for a huge and seemingly deliberate mis-statement of a factual position, although if that had been a uniform reason, then thousands of Pakistani, Chinese, Bangladeshi and Indian posts might be affected.
These are my own interpretation of best practices, and I have seen some very different negative ratings given, mainly by two Pakistani moderators, which do not match these criteria.
Some of my own older ratings don't match these criteria. This is what I intend to practise going forward, and have been doing in the very recent past.
