Makes me wonder , how does this combo, of the MFstar and barak 8 , stack against the best in the business- the PAAMs (sampson+aster) ??

@danger007 Why it is called LR-SAM while having range of just 70 kms? it is MR SAM as per range and if compared to similar SAM systems, congrats for having it.

this link shows that a missile up to range of 167 km is a MR SAM not LR SAM.

In my opinion if it is able to hit yakont, there is good possibility that two barak missiles can take down one Bramhos if equipped with powerful radars. It will be easier to counter Brahmos than Dhanush and Shourya quasi ballistic missiles. Thank you.

Block 3 is very difficult to intercept as it can be fired in steep dive mode as well. It is faster than Yakhont by full mach 1. i.e it is mach 2.8 missile against 1.8 mach speed of Yakhont.

As I said earlier it's possible to shoot down Bramhos using decent missile coupled with powerful and frequent updated radars. It's not invincible at all. Even if it has some capabilities of quasi ballistic missile but still it has its shortfalls if pitched against decent opponents. So I will stand by my statement on this basis. Thank you.

The main purpose of the Barak 8 is interception of incoming missile, remember "INCOMING MISSILE". It intercept head chase, not tail chase.

Remember PAD, AAD and PDV all not able to achieve more than Mach 5, but still they able to intercept a Mach 12 or 15 Reentry Vehicle. Definitely, Block 3 will be harder to intercept with Barak 8 but the missile is not invincible.

There is variant of AAD as SAM, called Ashwin. Intercept range is of 200-300 Km, horizontal.

Maybe this will be called VLR-SAM, very long range SAM.

I do not say that because of speed. I said that because of the high degree of maneuvers performed by the Brahmos like missile in its end game including steep dive.
