Can't understand why people say there's nothing to be excited about fact is - there could be a lot more behind the scenes agenda with regards to this visit also one can hope for some good news on defence procurement and other fronts

yes, the earth will be trembling. How proud of being indians, envied by the world for obama's visiting.

We were just as proud when Xi Jinping visited.
The pride is just because our Foreign policy and Diplomacy has changed drastically in the last 3 months with the change in Government.

I don't really see this visits as anything significant, the real work goes on at lower levels between the beauracats on both sides, such visits are just window dressing and there is little substance to them-this is just my opinion. Obama came to India in 2010 didn't really do much and now he's coming back in 2015, coming towards the end of his term with no hope of reelection and has lost the mid-terms so I wouldn't hold out much hope in this visit either. It's a bit of a muted response from me.

Would've much preferred Netanyahu, but maybe that will happen in 2016

First thing, he can't even STAND for re-election as there are max. 2 terms allowed for any President.

Second, these visits surely act as CATALYST in various deals, the beaurocracy is given a deadline by these visits & they have to complete the whole process within the time frame, like last time C-17 deal was completed before Obama so that on his visit there can be formal signing.

Third, Netanyahu don't visit SECULAR countries, let's make India COMMUNAL first before we can invite him

It is a BIG event ; thousands of people turn up ;

Will the Fly past be allowed or not on security grounds

We dont want a dull and drab Republic day because the Secret service vetoed
some parts and aspects of the Parade
