Barack Obama 'deliberately snubbed' by Chinese in chaotic arrival at G20

A friendly reminder that for barbarian nations, diplomatic protocol is a privilege, not a right, to be meted out entirely at our discretion :agree:

It probably has more to do with the fact that due to being a lame-duck and unpopular president, Obama is not respected in his own country. Snubbing powerful leaders ,even if they are your enemy, is foolish, and I don't think that China would have done this two years ago.

Edit: The way he was snubbed, on top of Chinese shouting "this is our country" is disgraceful. This was an international meet and if Chinese are so sensitive about "their country" ,they should host G20 meet with China as sole participant.

we did treat Guests well. Did you see all the happy face of other leaders? It would not make sense if all the guests are getting bad treatment but it's not. All get the best treatment as guest except one, Emperor Obama, who think that his country status deserve a "special treatment" than the rest. And we flat out say no. You are no different than any one of the G20 member.
but the report says he got special treatment... worse than others... you treated others well.. thats the allegation... its another thing if you say its untrue.

We know indians love white people. no need to be their cheerleader. I'm sure American president can do whatever they want in your country and you'll love it. Two Italian marines killed some of you people and they got off scott free!

Shiningg India
arrogant Chinese..not worth talking

he didn't get a worse treatment than others. The instance in dispute here is the red carpet thing and the issue of security. The main issue here is the US believe that they deserve a special right to have an oversize entourage than everyone else that they get to do whatever they want. That's the mindset of an emperor. Not only he didn't follow the time arrive, he flats out get rude encourage to step on a host country property and expect certain privileged. That is the exact same mindset with US swimmer Locke who think his celebrity status allow him to destroy a foreign public property.

Our relation with Japan is even worse but do you see we treat Japan poorly? No, so clearly this is just the US issue. The snubbing allegation is part of their mindset that expect everything to go their way. They expect an emperor treatment. LOL

If the reports are true, trying to huimiliate a guest is a sign of desperation and weakness. I guess you guys are learning from your friends in Pak.

tons of indians show up to cry foul for US on this baseless accusition. west-whorship mentality now must be in their DNAs. as a result, they deserved to be humiliated by west again and again.

By the way, if US want special treatment, they could keeping visiting india, they surely will got treatment of god.

Its little to do with Us and more with how ungraciously China treated a head of state, well as per reports.

Your analysis of the Indian mentality holds little value as we in India certainly don't hold any esteem for Chinese opinion even if we for the western one.

Are you jealous that we don't seem to like Chinese? You have your own cheerleaders in Pak. Leave us alone. :P

Nah, if this was intended to show Chinese power or something, its rinky dink low level bs that reflects badly on their professionalism if planned, and on their officials in charge of reception if not.

If it was intended to project US weakness that is laughable. Something of this petty level isn't going to make any country, least of all China, think the US is weak.

Well, most of you hate this President, so you should be delighted to see him getting embarrassed.

I don't know why my Indian brothers are fighting on behalf of Obama? What we have to do with this? Let China and USA deal with it. Modiji got red carpet welcome that's enough for us.
I know we have problems with China. But fighting with them over a issue which do not concern us is really pathetic.

I myself support fully for the deliberate action by Chinese. The US deserves it. In addition, it shows that they are not "special" as they want others to look at them as such, and cannot do whatever they want to this world without fearing to be punished.

I have had to work with so many American. Some smart, some stupid, but most are arrogant. And that is in the north of Vietnam, where they were taught a hard lesson.

Exactly, whether it is HRC or DT, they will receive the exact same treatment from China.

HANGZHOU: When US President Barack Obama arrived in China on Saturday for his final trip to Asia as commander in chief, the ceremonial niceties were marred by an undiplomatic shouting incident on the tarmac.

Chinese authorities have imposed extremely tight security precautions for the G20 summit+ , and not even US National Security Adviser Susan Rice and the White House press corps were given any exemptions when the Air Force One landed in host city Hangzhou.

As usual when Obama travels, the reporters accompanying him were brought under the wing of the Boeing 747 to watch him come down the aircraft stairs, penned off behind a blue rope installed by Chinese security.

But that was not far away enough for the Chinese personnel, one of whom screamed at White House staff, demanding the US press leave the scene.

A female White House official, handbag over her arm, told him that it was an American plane and the US president.

"This is our country!" the Chinese official, in a dark suit, shouted at her in English. "This is our airport!"

When US National Security Adviser Susan Rice and senior White House staffer Ben Rhodes tried to get closer to the president, lifting up the blue rope and walking under it, the official turned his ire on Rice, trying to block her progress.

As they exchanged angry words her Secret Service agent stepped in to usher her past him.

Moments afterwards the US president's motorcade was rolling away, towards a city of nine million people that has been denuded of around a quarter of its population for the event.

well said..
Americans don't show any respect to the host nation, when ever their president visit a nation, white house officials behave like the host nation is in their control. even when obama visited india, secret service agents want to remove all snipers of SPG/NSG and they wanted to put their secret service counter snipers on every high rise building(which india said a big NO) and also the US officials wanted a NO-FLY-ZONE in Rajpath during the Republic Day parade where President Barack Obama will be the Chief Guest.

Yup some tight slap across the face will go a long way in grinding their arrogance. Fact is we should not even allow their security escort, let them come if they are comfortable or get lost.

I think it is because this is Obama's last year of the presidency and he is becoming a lame-duck president in this last 4 remaining months this year. Thus, there may be no strong incentive to give respect or play nice with Obama. He is about to leave office soon.
